I have had about every brand of headlamp out there. None come close to the Black Diamond lights I have used. I run a sawmill operation and actually use these for logging at night in all kinds of conditions. I have dropped them in water, mud, smacked them around, they just never quit. It's vital that I have a light that never lets me down. Black Diamond nailed it.

Bought one yesterday, I think the lamp is better than they tell in the video :) You can dimm and/or strobe all the 3 leds individually + your last selected led and brightness is the default for next power on. The lamp can go real dimm. In addition to hunting and hiking I will use the lamp in mil duties too so it was important to have these features.

just got mine and love it, went thru the packaged batteries in one night (used it a lot). Very nice unit, still getting use to the power tap feel but it works great. Light is brighter than I anticipated, covers a wide area, and THREE COLORED LEDs to boot. I use headlamps a lot, farming, working at night, etc., and love this unit.

Bought this around 5 years ago and hated it till I finally bothered to learn how to use it properly. Don't waste your money or time on non rechargables, they go dead in a day, good quality rechargables not only last far longer, they give good light till they need charging again. What this does over the newer more powerfull headlamps is provide a more constant stream of light at stated outputs, not just a couple minute bursts. I have a Nitecore 65 UHE which I love but am still considering a BD Icon 700 purely because I know the runtimes are great and steady on the Black Diamonds.

Fantastic light; I own several. EASTER EGG! If you hit POWER TAP while it is in STROBE mode, it'll start an SOS strobe pattern.

Be warned that the latch is fragile and is prone to snapping. I attempted to close the latch for the first time on my new Storm 450 and the latch just snapped off. After googling it turns out it's a common flaw.

@@damongligaw5449 I contacted the warranty department at Black Diamond and I provided them with screen shots with a brief description. It took approx 2-3 weeks to get a reply and they said they will be mailing me out an replacement. I think I received it in about a few days. They didn't ask me to mail back the broken unit. The replacement works great because the latch was loose and not as still as the first one. Good luck!

I bought one of the Black Diamond Revolt Due-Fuel 350 Lumens headlamps : i really like it. VERY EXCITED. I’m a tanker driver, owner operator with five trucks. I’m a busy guy. I need this at the ready 👊🏼 I literally JUST took it out of the box and plugged it in. I opened the battery compartment and the clasp that secures the door snapped off right in my hand. I’m taking this back to Sportman’s Warehouse tomorrow to see if they’ll swap it out. I guess I’ll just never try to put tripple A batts in there. WOW. That’s pretty crazy that the securement system for the battery door is so weak. Please redesign that, gentlemen. That’s actually unacceptable. The fate of me ever having anything to do with you guys ever again now rests in the hands of Sportsman’s Warehouse at 120 Quinn Drive, Pittsburgh, PA. I don’t receive mail. It’s a problem. I’m sure they’ll swap it. I can probably even find the receipt. And I’m sure I’m going to love this. I don’t ever use headlamps because, you know, Energizer. Terrible. Just make me buy batteries forever. I’m going to wear this thing out. Period. It’s not as tough as you guys think. Everyone thinks their equipment is tough as nails. Until nails get involved. World’s falling apart. I see it everywhere. If this will last six months, I’ll be a happy tanker boy. It didn’t cost much. I’ll buy one every six months, cool with it. But this thing broke right off the bat. Hmmm. I’ll let you know what happens tomorrow 😳

This light is garbage. The catch for the battery compartment snapped right off. It's now completely useless. Moreover, it's not at all user friendly. So disappointed. Waste of money. There are much better headlamps out there at this price point. DO NOT BUY.

@@NL-35 UPDATE! I got in contact with Black and Decker customer service and luckily, since I purchased the headamp online, I had a proof of purchase. They sent me a replacement backing free of charge. They sent it through fedex up here to Canada and I got it in no time. Again, at NO cost. Given the outstanding customer service, I will buy Black and Decker products again. I'll just be a lot more diligent before I fork over my cash. I wouldn't recommend buying this headlamp still because of the backing. Hopefully, the designers put the crackpipe away before they design the next one. Definitely, reach out to their customer service dept to sort this out. It'll cost you no more than 5 minutes to send an email.

Just got the 350 revolt , really pleased with it , I spend alot of time outdoors and have a lot of outdoors kit, this is defiantly a good bit of gear, was thinking of getting the storm for the extra 50 lumens although I was put of as it wasnt rechargeable so the 350 revolt seemed like the better choice .

I bought an Astro R headlamp. Unfortunately, the lamp dims automatically after some time. It happens very slowly, we don't really know when. Is the lamp broken?

The clear plastic piece is a clip that must be used for shipping purposes only. Once you remove it the case is easily opened.

MY DREAM HEADLAMP would be the Spot 350 with the Storms waterproof/dust proof/shock proof “bomb proof” features… I have BOTH headlamps, but the Spot is the ONLY one I actually use because the Storm is just too bulky big & heavy with 4 batteries, it REALLY wants to pull down on the front of my forehead especially wearing “long” term hour+ when doing camp tasks or walking…)you can only tighten the elastic head band so much till it’s uncomfortable tight and gives you a headache…Wish the storm was 3 batteries, smaller better form fitting, and I can do withOUT all the “night vision” colors or super brightness…I’m all about LONGEST battery life, fit/comfort on my head long term, and how good it will hold up in extreme elements camping/hiking for weeks on end….ALSO BE CAREFUL HOW YOU STORE THESE HEADLAMPS! I put an older Black Diamond headlamp in my emergency CAR kit in case I needed one to change a tire or fix something at night hands free, and the heat in my car destroyed/dry rotted the head band! The elasticity was completely GONE and won’t stay on your head, it stretches out but not back in, and created stress marks all gin the band! The headlamp STILL WORKED FINE though!! I threw out the headband(wish black diamond sold replacements?) and clipped the light straight to the shoulder strap on my backpack, still works great!!

I have one of these. I've been using it for a few months on the weekends and it's been great. However, I've noticed it turning on by itself flashing between different colors recently (last week it happened twice while just lying around). I'll try the digital lock out feature and see if that works.

The battery compartment catch is weak and breaks off easily. This catch should be made more robust. I would not recommend the headtorch for this reason.

Had an older model storm with the single button. I'm interested in the 500-R so I can always top off the light off my camping solar array during the day. I just have the tendency to run the batteries as as long as I can even when the light would be very dim. Perhaps this was fixed in newer models but rechargeable AAA's at 1.2V (single use 1.5V) each seems to trigger the power save auto dimming faster.

When you folks reworked the "icon" series. Maybe 5 years ago, it was horrible, you'd rid the light of aluminum which was more expensive, and when i had to replace it, of course, went back to the same series. You improved the wiring but left us with a plastic housing, and horrible adjustment clips on the head band. For folks that needed this product 7-8 hrs/ningt (hence the battery pack), it seemed weird, and i hope you consider this comment in your future designs. Thank you.

I am a hunting guide and use headlamps quite a bit. I bought the Storm and can never get the main light to stay on high beam. It turns off after a few seconds, even with new batteries. Just pulled it out of my pack and tried to figure it out. Same issue.

Very bright when it works. Mine won't respond to the buttons properly. How about just an off/on/dimmer switch??? Simple is better. Multiple button pushes on two buttons and a side tap sucks.

Generally our eyes are more sensitive to green or blue/green light so you can use a lower power than red. Also Green is better for perceiving red/maroon colors if needing to do so on a map. At a higher power, red is superior for preserving night vision and I'll use that when night hiking.

well well , you can put out only so much Lumens as the batteries allow i.e. discharge rate. NIMH and Alkaline have their limits. You want more lumens opt for lithium based torches and/or bigger batteries or packs. They are using the best LED chips on the market (lumen to watt ratio) , I suppose, the price tag is there.

When do you "experts" realise that winter means wearing gloves? It's way to difficult using headlamps with gloves, which is a security issue!

We do not recommend this headlamp. After not full one year of use plastic hinges from batteries doors are breaking! (after aprox. 20 times of opening it to change batteries). There should be a metal hinge inside - like it is on the moving locking part.

@@TheTranq I get your issue. I would say that if you don't know the state you left it in and require red, you would mask the lens with your hand and cycle through the colours. This is what I will do if I need red and haven't planned ahead. Otherwise, this might be the wrong lamp for your application.

@@bw2020 huge defects across the board. I'm not sure if they ended up recalling it, but if you look at some online stores like MEC the reviews are all bad. I had one, the light would overheat and stop working after 2 minutes. They sent me a replacement that had totally new internals.
