Great, Great job! As Chicago is my hometown, I'm proud that the ACKNOWLEDGED founder was a black person like me! My mom and many of her friends (some achieved fame and fortune) attended Du Sable High School as well as my cousins! I love the fact the main beautiful drive along the lake-front is now Du Sable Lake Shore Drive! Thanks for some valuable information I can now share with ALL citizens who will listen!!!

Yep he is "acknowledged" as such but that's weird because DuSable didn't "found" anything. He left in 1800. The city of Chicago was founded in 1832 by Kinzie, Hubbard and Clybourn. They signed the corporate papers. Why that bothers ya'll and why you want to pretend that an educated African and French Canadian trader who first sectioned off land like a European founded Chicago when he didn't is bizarre but no skin off a my nose bro. You keep whispering sweet little lies to each other if it helps you sleep at night. I can read. I looked at the papers of incorporation and they're signed as stated above. That is a fact and it aint going to change no matter what some soon to be extinct woke people say for a period of time. Enjoy!

Really? Who signed the papers of incorporation that officially brought Chicago into existence 30 years AFTER DuSable left? Sounds like black revision to me. Explain how it's not please . . . It will stand for a period of time maybe, but the fact is DuSable was gone for 30 years before the city was founded. He was the first to section of land in the Europoean style so in that sense he was the first here but he still didn't found anything but his trading post, then he left in 1800. The Americans came in 1803 after the "treaty of Saint Louis" and built the Fort. Kinzie, Hubbard and CLybourn came a decade ish later and are the signers of the papers of incorporation. THEY founded the city officially in 1832. Period! End of story. It's a matter of record and fact.

Thank you for this information. It goes along with and verified this same information I heard about 30 years ago from Bill Cosby; and the information shared on a tour in Chicago.

I grew up mostly in the Chicagoland area and did not learn Chicago had a Black founder until I got to college! I learned it from a movie I watched, not in any history class.

Thank you very much for the wonderful revelations. The tenacity and wit to survive is what is being denied by attempts to hide information of this caliber. Ironically it’s these same characteristics that make trailblazers shine despite the color of their skin and their often very humble beginnings. Inspirational!!

This is a great story. Would really make a great film. Also the most accurate of how he was 1/3 african 1/2 euro and how his children became mixed Natives ...but truthfully told not some dane calloway mess. The voice over was wonderful.
