@@DANIELmadison yeah the deep dives are a much needed departure from the way things are typically done, and exactly the kind of content I'm interested in watching. Fanx for being yourself ^.^ I've been practicing magic for over 22 years now and you've been a big inspiration to me personally for the majority of that time, there was like an entire year or two I spent in highschool with a magician friend just trying to figure out a way to do that one color change you posted (you know the one haha) only to realize later like, oh it was probably just edited BUT it actually wound up forcing me to come up with something else that I never would have come up with if I hadn't been motivated by seein that video and thinking there was a sleight that could achieve it. I wound up coming up with a way of displaying a card on top of the deck face up, hand totally empty, and then as I swipe two fingers reaaaally slowly across the face, it morphs so that if I bring my fingers to the middle it's half one card and half another, or if I slide up or down it can morph back and forth a bit before completing the swipe forward and the whole card has changed and I can show my hand still empty. if it wasn't for you doin what you do, it's not just this one trick but probably at least about a few hundred others that I never would have come up with.

I got to learn this gem a while back from Richard Osterlind. What an amazing concept it is and so useful. The bang for your buck on this principle is second to none. However. When you have felt how it feels in your hand and riffled through to find it I noticed you could almost just bevel the deck slightly if you couldn't find the cut card. Bevel the deck diagonally and the card will make itself known. Either by touch (I found this works best with bevelling the top towards you) or by sight (inverse. i.e bevelling the top away from you) if you want to sneak a glance or need a reminder. Great stuff as always, Daniel. FANK!

Yes! Another section that I cut from this Masterclass that is in The MAD System - however, I didn't use RF, I made a gimmick which has the QS stuck to the force card ( at the bottom ) - so that they see the 4H in the Flicker / Riffle, which then instantly vanishes. The card/s are a little thick, but it works's wonders. I love how the RF allows you to hit this with ANY card 👏

52:38 you could use this idea to, if you've set up the deck, have three force cards. The one above the Black Mariah, the Black Mariah and then the one under. So you could let the participant choose the top or bottom when you stop, or have one participant remember the top card, another the bottom (either showing the queen or pulling back) Or even do a force of the top, have one member remember, cut do again showing the bottom, with the pull back, and then cutting, repeating and showing the queen. (If worried about the discrepancy between first being the top and other being the bottom, could easily justify by just tilting it a bit when dribbling and saying 'we will use the bottom as I can see this (being the top) card. Sorry if doesn't make sense or spamming the comments (seems I'm first to comment here, guessing because it's late?) but this is giving me sooo many ideas. And I want to share if it will help anyone else.

19:58 depending on what you're using it for, I'd imagine if it is near the top or bottom and you can't find, you could do a cut (whatever type you prefer) which would put it towards to center. It wouldn't work if you had the participant shuffle or something, but if you're just needing to find the card, if you do a dribble and don't find, just continue what the observer thinks is you just playing with the cards, and do a cut, then dribble again. Just an idea for others
@MrViippola Жыл бұрын

You can use the Black Mariah as a way to throw a card in the deck as you dribble and locate their card. As you dribble there is slight pause once you get to the short corner, you can throw another card in here. Or use two Black Mariahs and dribble twice, once face up and once face down to sandwhich their card with two random cards as you throw them in

Much as I prefer not to use gimmicks so that I can always do anything in my repertoire, it's very tempting to force a gaffed card so that it can easily be controlled even if a spectator snatched the deck to shuffe it themselves. Not that that happens very often, but it pays to be prepared!

Madness! Great idea, if you do this with a double-backer, and have it above all the Aces, you can cut to the Aces, apparently one at a time, as every double turnover replaces the gimmick on top of the next Ace whilst offering the cleanest turnover - I hope that makes sense!

Yes! This is also something that I have played with, but I stopped using it for a few reasons, mainly because it developed into something I call 'Substance' which is also in The MAD System, whereas a specific card can temporarily 'stick' to any other card in the deck. 57:14 using the Fall Force, how do you keep people from just picking/naming a random card instead of what they actually see? The previous one, you can show the person and others, so there is at least confirmation if the person picking lies or just names a random card? (Might not be a problem in real life, but I've had several times where I'm going to have someone pick a card and before they even can be forced or even fairly pick one, they just name a card. So I can imagine someone doing here too? Maybe I'm worried about nothing, or maybe I need to learn better audience handling and picking? IDK
@augustdeer Жыл бұрын
That’s why you always keep an Advocate on you. The actual answer is to learn how to judge your spectators. Do a trick where they have a tiny bit of control but can’t actually screw anything up. If they do what you tell them to, you’re good to try these riskier tricks. If they challenge you and try to take more control than they should have, stick with foolproof tricks where they don’t have any control at all. Or, if they’re too confrontational, treating it too much like a challenge, stop doing magic for them.
@setscet Жыл бұрын
I think it comes down to knowing your spectator a bit and really selling the idea of "seeing a card that stands out to you, let a cart jump into your mind." It makes the performance more interesting, but also ensures that if they're the type to play along, they'll be honest about that.
@DANIELmadison Жыл бұрын
I should have mentioned this, but this is something that I have only ever experienced once in my life, and it was with a different trick where I showed 26 cards, to have them mentally select one, and they chose a card that wasn't even in there!
