My first job was as a movie theater doorman and concessions worker. We ran the same hustle but with free movie passes. In fact, our manager encouraged us to make friends with restaurant workers by plying free movie passes in exchange for free food. We had a real good relationship with several places that would hook us up with free food during nights we worked in exchange for passes for that restaurant's employees. It was a real nice give and take system.

Listen culinary kid here. Its supppeeerrrr important to check food yemperature for safety hazards. Sad yes but its for safety. If a food gets to the danger zone temp i believe its 70f to 120. Some foods dont keep temperature well and can give u food poisioning if its not at the same temp i think its 135 or 145 inside temp of certain foods once it gets in the danger zone cant be eaten. I worked at a Taco bell when I was a teenager, we were open Christmas eve and closed Christmas. Some leftover food we had that night only lasts "1 day if refrigerated". It was a slow day so I ended up taking home a 3/4 batch of leftover nacho cheese. It's obviously still good way passed its "1 day" restriction, but food safety in any restaurant is by the book legally. I had nachos until I was sick of them pretty much. I did get written up for it, luckily it was only a slap on the wrist but totally worth it.

I use to work at a movie theatre. We had a a regular concession stand, Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC, Wetzel's Pretzels, and this Canadian Fries place called New York Fries. So imagine all this fast food under 1 roof and everyone at these different places all work for 1 company. For what we did have to pay for, we got pretty good discounts, think like $1 large popcorn chicken. Also everyone pretty much hooked each other up with extras in the bags, like free fries, extra burgers, and extra everything. I once had a guy order a small fries for $1, and I ended up giving him 2 hotdogs, an entire paper bag full of fries, and on top of which, a 10% discount off the $1, so it actually ended up being $0.90. We also got free movies, so often we got to see things after we worked, and also on our days off, even the strictest managers were very content with letting people bring in like 5 friends to see movies for free all the time, even if company policy was like You + 1 person for free every two weeks. A lot of us were in high school or college, and honestly it wasn't the worse gig in the world.

I worked at a pizza place and traded pizzas for drugs sometimes. Always tried giving pizzas or wings for a discount. We even called local restaurants and would straight up trade food, I remember we got pizza hut once, tried to trade with bdubs all the time but they were a bunch of squares. We were in a strip mall attached to a liquor store, grocery store, haircut place and we would get and give half off to haircut place and always made deals with the managers at the liquor store. Liquor store even got a ton of promotional display items and when they didn't need them anymore they would leave it by the backdoor and it was pretty much free game at that point. Those displays were the coolest thing ever, I don't remember the brands but one was basically a throne with cupholders and even a cooler in the seat for your beer. They had a ton of different branded shelf displays as well that we made good use of. I miss that place cuz the managers were chill as shit but the owners were straight cunts.

I worked at Starbucks for 4 years during college. Folks i barely even knew in high school would come through and I'd give them the hook up. We had a sick deal worked out with a pizza joint down the street, where we would hook up their delivery driver with free coffee, in exchange for free pizza. It was lit as fuck

I used to work at a movie theater once and I totally feel this. There was this one time I had this girl come in who worked at Dairy Queen and I joked with you about how I'd get her into a free movie if she made me a free ice cream cake. Surprisingly enough, she was totally down. So she came in the next week, I got her into a movie and the next week I had myself a free ice cream cake. Good times haha

As a manager whether or not I was the "chill" manager depended entirely on how hard my employees worked. Hard working employees got free food when they asked. I had one employee who would spend 75% of his shift sitting in the back of the store watching Netflix. But he had connections with the general manager so I couldn't do anything about it. I almost never gave him free food

I mean less food for those employees isn't gonna give them the energy or the motivation to try. If I knew my manager let everyone but me get free food, I wouldn't try at all and definitely would be on the toilet during work time. I used to be a fast food manager and I didn't discriminate on who got free food or not because it's not cool. Just saying, I wouldn't be surprised if those employees' morals got even worse because of how you treated them.

It was more of turning a blind eye sort of thing. Were I the general manager I would have given everyone a free meal every shift, I also wouldn't employ someone who spent 4 of 6 hours refusing to do any work
