Interesting. "Loyalty its is own reward" is a two way street. When Wyatt states this at the end, I am thinking Wyatt rewarded the loyalty the Prince and family gave him by including him in the plan with his own loyalty, which was in turn inspired by Wyatt's actions and his integrity. Full circle. I am truly intrigued to know what the heck made Draymore turn on the Asters now.

Interesting characters, unusual social structures but with a "realism" to them that is engrossing, and even the two dimensional antagonists are used well, not that they are really two dimensional, more like straightforward due to their perceived superiority, which is something that even the good guys suffer from.

I do agree it's nice that Wyatt and the 2 royals, particularly Clara have created a positive feedback loop between them inspiring each other. I do think Cornelius Draymore fears so external threat to the Principality. That is so dangerous that if the Principality does not change alot, it will be destroyed. He believes that the Prince and basically most other Astors don't have the flexibility to deal with this threat.

@@Soundwave119 I have thought this too, but as demonstrated in their interactions with Wyatt they do posses the ability to adapt. Or maybe the situation Draymore has put them in was the catalyst that made them receptive, but more likely he created the opportunity, unwittingly, for the royals to manifest and exercise their capacity. I think its the principality itself, with its rigid structure of social strata is what suffers from this inflexibility as a whole. The external threat is indeed well present, and I bet its not only from the Drazaan but other human powers. A shame that Cornelius thought he was better suited to deal with things and chose this path. Pride is such an intoxicant, left him blind. But then again he is doing the Principality a favor, if perhaps not in the manner he intended, so we could attribute it to fate. LOL.

WOW. And there was an Earth-shattering KaBOOM!... One hidden mine detonates and the traitors fall. I hope that despite the planned threatrics of Wyatt that he will apologize for his words to his royal friends. You can tell when the viewers are enjoying a story by how fast the thumbs-up increases. I got here at 69 and hit it for the 70th and already it is at 250. This speaks volumes about the quality of the story and its author. To that end, ekhidnawritez, I salute you and I thank you and SciFi Stories for bringing us such a wonderful tale of war and intrigue.

Agree, but I don’t think he has to say sorry, but if the author wants so be it. I think it better the prince produce Wyatt, in front of all leading nobles and be praised for his loyalty, then allow Wyatt to show his loyalty and bow deeply. I’m trust this writer, he’s doing great!

I got my answer about marines!!! I frankly am shocked blue bloods would sacrifice there personal ambitions in a soldiering position but it makes since that they would be capable of treason. More so than say a well treated commoner soldier as it seems most commoners are quite willing to retain their collar and live a life dedicated to service.

He has no need to apologise . The Prince and Clara may privately ask him about his words though . The views expressed ARE a type of Intel . The kind of information often gleaned using Deep Cover Espionage . Clearly Wyatt swapped his OWN Navy Pin for the Trigger . Or there may have been Electronic Shielding added to The Princes shield generator , in anticipation . Actually a wise precaution .

@@harvey9277 Traditionally minor nobles especially went into the church or the military, say you have a land holding minor noble like a Baron, they only have a single title and a single estate, if they have 3 sons then the first son gets to inherit the title and the estate whilst sons 2 and 3 are at best landless knights, if they showed aptitude in combat they'd get sent off to a more powerful lord who would train them as knights, potentially earning themselves an estate of their own, or they would do a non combat role, in the middle ages this would normally mean the church, but in more modern settings it could just as easily mean becoming a teacher, a businessman a doctor etc So yes a minor noble is quite likely to become some sort of soldier especially if they normally pay for their own cybernetic implants etc. Typically a knight was expected to pay for at least some of their own equipment, though they might get some of it as gifts on being knighted. This would explain why Wyatt was so surprised when Redford told him he was getting all those cybernetic implants, he's a commoner he would never have expected to receive such items as gifts

To me, it sounds very much like what happened to Tsar Romanoff of Russia. The Marxist-Socialists first justified and rationalized their hatred of those in power. Then they demonized them to the general populists. (In this case it is the nobles.) When they reached a critical mass of support they overthrew them. Which by the way is what is currently happening in America by the Marxist-Democrats. Accept it is only one side of the two-party system that is being demonized (the Republican party). Sorry, to get political but history has its teachers if we are willing to learn and it makes good fodder for a great story such as this one.

I see lots of comments requesting the next installment immediately 😮 the author ✍️ is writing the story as we go here . The typical best selling author may produce one sometimes two novels a year . It is really physically impossible to crank out a new chapter every day. The real issue here if you appreciate the story is are you supporting the Author ✍️? The kofi app link 🔗 is attached . It needed to be in personal contact with the Prince, normally he has at least a pair of Royal Marines right next to him but the traitors assumed that the Prince would approach Wyatt to pronounce judgement and that with his cuffs not locked Wyatt would be in the best location to get in contact, also of course Wyatt was expendable as far as they were concerned, Wyatt acted as if he had done what they asked causing the traitors to reveal themselves when they opened fire... Not the brightest nobles in the book it would seem

It is interesting to hear about normal Marines of the Principality of Astor. I am not surprised that Wyatt has not interacted with other branches not connected with the flight deck. I do like Wyatt is trying to figure out who was using the quantum entanglement communication device and planted it in his room. It's interesting to hear that normal Marines are made up exclusively of nobles. Interesting to here the sneaky apparent leader of this cell of traitors is interested in Wyatt, especially after his rant in the trial. I do like how this cunning noble values commoners who are intelligent, cunning and skilled. I do like this noble is up front about his intent in using Wyatt for his own gain. It's interesting when you combine what Bob (i am calling him that for simplicity sake) says and what Duke Cornelius Draymore said its interesting. It sounds that Cornelius believes that the Principality of Astor needs to change, to become more flexible. It makes me wonder if Cornelius knows of some external threat to the Principality in the not so distant future. I believe Cornelius did not do the coup for personal power but something else that the author us hiding from us. Wyatt is a masterful actor able to keep his rage hidden as Bob insulted Clara and Cynthia in particular. Blue hair demons is interesting curse for the Windfield sisters. Interesting how Wyatt is able to take advantage of Bob not knowing that Wyatt was at the meeting with Clara during the negotiations with Uriel and did not know that Wyatt knows Clara had lots of RM. I do like how Bob was thrown by Wyatt's actions and realizing their maybe a chance to have him join Cornelius's side. Its interesting how Bob was honest in that he was against having Wyatt being framed. I am guessing that Bob was wanting to get Wyatt to possibly join his side a more subtle way, seeing great potential in him unlike most nobles who are too stupid and/or ridged to use that their own advantage. I do like how Bob respects Wyatt knowing what he wants, it being reasonable for a commoner. Interesting that Bob is smart enough to realize what Prince and Clara have in that Wyatt is a person of great potential that can go far if given the proper space and guidance to fully blossom. That Wyatt is someone worthy of starting his own noble linage and to make sure this person is connected to their faction. Sounds like Bob is the right or left hand person that is the leader of the traitors in the fleet. That is crazy but ingenious idea of using a small EMP bomb to knock out Prince's shields and give sharp shooters a chance to take him out. Its a crazy twist that Prince/Clara using Wyatt a commoner be fully aware part of unveiling the traitors who would never expect them to trust a commoner with such a task. Now Bob and his master are willing to trust Wyatt a commoner to get a EMP bomb into position to give them a chance to kill Prince and Clara. Since from their point of view, the crusty Astor's would never think they nobles would trust a commoner like Wyatt with a sensitive task! 😮👏 Its interesting that they want Wyatt to be a John Wilkes Booth like person. While he might not be the person who kills Prince but is a lynchpin in taking down Prince and will be forever remembered as such. It is such a catchy phrase but fitting "House Aster Falls Today" for Fredrick Anderson's plan. It will be interesting now to go back listen to the earlier parts of this story where Fredrick is in and to see what signs the author left us to pick up, on if any. I do wonder if Prince had a listening bug planted on Wyatt for Prince to know about the EMP bomb and to strengthen his shield generator against such an attack. I do wonder how everyone outside of the Prince's cabal reacting to the emotional wip lash with Wyatt's actions in during this case! It will be interesting to see in the next chapter how Prince rewards Wyatt of his active role in unveiling all of the key traitors on the Flagship and probably the rest of this fleet. This chapter was so awesome I could not watch it all at once and had to break it up so I could full admire the full magnificence of this episode mostly wrapping up the hidden traitors arc.

"It's interesting to hear that normal Marines are made up exclusively of nobles." Actually, IMHO an error. Marines are mostly quite boring jobs - they are the "infantry on ships". I would understand Marines officers being Nobles, but if normal infantry - which will be stationed on a LOT of warships and installations and mostly do boring guard duty - are all nobles, there must be TONS of lower nobles that are eager to get into that. You even have to stretch nobility only for officers - but it is doable (stretched to explaining the occasional non-noble officer) - but normal marines is just a LOT of grunts. You could retro explain that those are the marines in the area around the crown - but otherwise just not enough bodies or a LOT of minor nobles.

@@ThomasTomiczek I think there are basically 3 types of troops in use, the Marines being the top end rather than what you or I might think of as Marines, there seem to be plenty of Nobles to spare so I'm guessing Nobles who are perhaps of only average intelligence (or less ?) get to go in the Marines, Royal Marines appear to be exclusively under the control of house Astor and apparently are far better than regular marines, probably due to genetic and cybernetic modification - All this appears to be at least in part a way to keep the commoners out of the better roles or some such nonsense

@@davidorf3921Possibly, but technically you have the "mass troops" (infantry) without which you can not do. They also will not be trained i.e. in vacuum or zero g fighting. THEN you have marines, which serve on boards of ships. The Royal Marines are - well, more like a house guard. Anyhow, imagine how the principality operates space stations, has a significant fleet - MOST of them (outside the small ships) will need marine contingents. That is a LOT of troops. Essentially you will have SIGNIFICANTLY more marines than ship level officers. As I said - it ONLY works if you have a REALLY LARGE Noble complement - because not all "surplus" nobles are marine material (not if that is supposed to be elite). It will ANYHOW not - never ever - have a high reputation compared to i.e. being in command of a spaceship, so Marine nobles are "second class" in their own hierarchy - not a nice career to be a grund marine if you could be part of a bride crew and get your own command ;) Imagine that the bridge level crew has what - 20 officers? They likely have 100+ - possibly 200 - or so marines on board, PLUS the royal marines. Not an outstanding career.

The traitors made several assumptions didn't they, Biggest one was they assumed that Clara had just used Wyatt as a shuttle pilot when she went to Woodshaft, not realising he was actually present at the negotiations, next they assumed he was only doing things to get a reward rather than doing things because he had signed up for the Navy and it was his duty. Finally the biggest assumption they made was to assume that just because he was a commoner he was stupid and do whatever they told him to do to get a likely non existent reward. The traitors were in effect no better than the Royalty they had turned against. Clearly showing that most nobles are not very bright LOL

Fantastic, I was thinking not an EMP but something along the lines of an advanced bomb. Trust and respect are earned, while outwardly given to a “rank” if a buffoon has that rank no one really trusts or respects them. Yet it seems those buffoons fail to take into consideration the real feelings of those they supposedly lead. It is also a two way street I. Order for leadership to succeed. Can’t wait to find out exactly what happened.

The problem with a bomb would be anything strong enough to bypass Prince's shields, which were mentioned before, would be detectable by security and even if it could a bomb would be harmful to everyone around the prince including the leader who would probably close enough to be in blast radius. A bomb would also not make sense to hook Wyatt's in there need to be a possibility for survival to make him do it. An EMP on the other end is far more simpler and can be done without much/any chemicals that could be detected but it would have a very limited range. Whole thing was setup from both sides if anything though I am more surprised the leader revealed himself. A proper leader and one that at that high in command would have a backup plan if this didn't work and would hide......which probably what might happen and Frederick Anderson might not be the leader. A plot twist would be the leader being the one who interviewed Wyatt so he can get a better judgement of the man.

The next chapter will be the Prince explaining to some of the trial judges that "Yes, Wyatt was in on the plan to reveal the traitors and that no, he wasn't actually sentenced to death and oh, for the love of God, please catch something that pretends to be a clue."

To be fair they are not all incompetent, but probably half should be put out to pasture, they just can't get it through their skulls that a commoner might actually be competent or better.... I would not be surprised to find one of them pointing at Wyatt going you can't let him get away with this he's a commoner and the Prince turning to Wyatt and telling him to take a knee then knighting him on the spot before turning back and saying "Is that ok, now ? He's no longer a commoner ...."!

They might just say it for the benefit of another noble, but the traitors use the better arguments.. And personal loyalty, as Wyatt shows it to his royals, is the exactly the mean by which a feudal system keeps running. I hope he will question this concept in the future episodes.

Wyatt already questions a lot of things, he is not stupid as demonstrated by several of his actions and comments, the problem with any system is down to how corrupt and bad the leaders are, it doesn't matter if they are politicians or nobles the effect is the same, have a look at modern day Russia, China or worst of the lot North Korea for really bad examples, or for that matter any government where a few generally old men decide what is right and wrong for the population. So far Princess Clara seems to be the best of the Royals, she could make demands but prefers to Bargain as Uriel Holks discovered, she is certainly intelligent and by not running away when the Drazzan attacked Woodshaft she effectively bought her brothers forces to help remove the Drazzan, so she is certainly not a bad Noble, her brother seems to have possibly led a sheltered life judging from his comments on arriving at Woodshaft, if he was kept isolated as the heir presumptive then he might be ill informed but not bad, we just don't know enough yet about him or for that matter his uncle the Duke, we might discover that the Duke is actually the good guy. We are really seeing most of this from Wyatts point of view
