Ironic that one of the most honored formations in the British martial history was from Scotland not England. The Black Watch were the epitome of valor and service to the Crown. One of the many highlights of World War II was the Black Watch crossing the Rheine, marking a fitting ending to the 3rd Reich not so long afterwards.

My great grandad was in the blackwatch and was also the highest ranked non-commissioned officer in the British Army at the time.
