Personally, Idk if they really should be together romantically - just from a character perspective. I mean I often love their scenes together including having some great friendship moments. But their mutual hiding of secrets (especially since season 6) would be starting point for disaster in a relationship. Secrets didn't went well for Keen2. Imho Liz doesn't need a romantic relationship right now (and apparently the actress agreed on that in a pre-season 6 interview).

That one wrong person to fall in love with is Lizzy....everyone around her gave everything they had for her and she just used and threw them from her life ruthlessly. Tom's real identity that he was not a school teacher shouldnt have ever been revealed to her . For someone who grew up all alone, watching her trust and beliefs getting blown in thin air made her who she turned out to be..
