I fucking love this movie. Like you said, you have no idea what's going to happen next. The entire first act they set up typical horror movie cliches and spend the second and third acts completely subverting them. "Oh, the cheerleader is running from the Blob with two kids, everything will be alriHOLY FUCK." They even turn Meg into fucking Rambo! The Blob remake doesn't get the love it deserves.

Truly one of the better remakes. I agree completely with your comments concerning directing, writing and cast. I was not aware that there was a sequel to the original movie, let alone the fact that Larry Hagman directed it. Is it worth seeing? This movie may very well be the reason I don't drink strawberry milkshakes.

Thanks! I guess it is just life experiences that make things less scary. When you are little you aren't noticing all the flaws, you just know that whatever you are seeing is terrifying. Then you get older and some of that innocence is chipped away so stuff isn't as bad anymore.

Ah yes! Saw this in the theater at 14 (had been a fan of the original already for years). I remember the sink scene in the ads really grabbed my interest. It was a lot gorier than I expected which was awesome! My 9 yr old sister & I just ate it up (even kids died in this). My Mom -- poor thing -- was traumatized. She thought the people who made this were really sick! That's 1 afternoon I'll never forget! Glad it's finally getting the recognition it deserves. Never understood why not before.

Hell Yes! This movie is one that I mention when someone invariably brings up "good remakes". Two things I heard about this film revolve around Meg. The actress, Shawnee Smith, was actually underage and lied about being 18 to get her part in the film. Also, apparently Joss Whedon was inspired by Meg's character to create his own cheerleader heroine, Buffy Ann Summers. Keep on fighting the good fight and bringing underappreciated gems to the public conscience!

This is my all-time favorite horror film! I watched it for the first time - the censored version on VHS (it was recorded from TV) - in 1992 when I was just nine years old. The 1988 version of The Blob is one of my favorite horror films. It doesn't get nearly the recognition it deserves. I also like how you showed Michael Bay's picture at the end while you talked about opportunistic directors cashing in on a successful horror name to make a buck. That guy has no idea what makes a horror film work. What's worse is he doesn't care.

I loved this movie remake it's up there with The Thing and The Fly in terms of remake greatest. I feel that this remake did the story a little differently as well instead of making a shot for shot remake they took the original story and put their own spin on it like the other 2 movie remakes that were mentioned and I love that. Great vid btw I know I'm super late with my comments on ur vids since I just came upon ur channel. I'm still binge watching and have many more vids to watch, but ur channel is amazing so I have to comment on ur vids to let u know anyway. Very underrated channel and u should have millions of subscribers thank u for doing such a great job and I'm telling everyone about ur channel. 😎

It's really satisfying to hear how much more charismatic you are 7 years later

That is from the 1980 film Motel Hell. I did that way back but can't post it on youtube because of my old intros. You can check it out on my site if you like. :)
