Thanks for commenting! Yes, I know I am very lucky. As you will see from my comments in the description, it was a real honour and privilege. When singing Itinerant Child with them (other video on this channel), Derek put Ian’s white scarf that he wears round my neck and I can’t describe how humbled I felt. So sad that Derek has also now gone. He filled Ian’s shoes with aplomb, and I doubt they will now tour again, as most have health issues now and no lead singer and frontman. I know Johnny T has done this, but IMO he lacks the presence of Ian and Derek.

This was for my 50th in 2013. You only live once as they say, and I had seen them many times, so spoke to them at a gig in 2011 and asked if they would help me celebrate The other track on this channel is when I was privileged to sing Itinerant Child with them. What an honour. Trying to get Ricky Ross or Paul Heaton to do likewise for my 60th. My Mrs had Tony Hadley for her 50th, so we do get to pull these off every now and again 👍

Hello Mick. Why are you unhappy with a band I have loved and admired for decades performing at my 50th Birthday party? This was 10 years ago after Ian had passed, but many of the original band members are present including Chas Jankel that you mention as well as Mickey Gallagher and Norman Watt-Roy. Derek Hussey is on lead vocals and was Ian’s minder and close friend, whom we also sadly lost last year. I can’t understand why you “don’t approve” of a bands doing what they do best and bringing joy to others? All present had a fabulous time and I still see the band regularly; next time in Cambridge this May .

Well my guests and I loved it Terry, A “Bucket List” event for me and they are such talented musicians and a great bunch of blokes to boot 🥾. RIP Derek. 😢
