Great doco thanks. I dropped out of a western medical school (i kept asking 'what about the mind?') and went and worked for various himalayan masters and tibetan medicine projects in the high himalayas - so great. Met the wonderful Dr Yeshe Dondon (Dalai lama doc) and Tragawa Rinpoche (Darjeeling med school) also. A lot of the plants are being ripped out (roots and all) by ayurvedic types, in that high fragile environment, so I hope we can preserve this valuable tradition.

I'm in chinese medical school now and took a 15 week elective course in tibetan medicine. It's basis is more like european in the 1300's with constitutions being like phlegmatic and such. Some concepts are just wrong (such as the amount of blood in the body-having been an anesthetist I've replaced numerous bodyfulls of blood). What I DID find fasciinating was the concept of dietary therapy, how emotions effect the body and their concept of urine diagnosis was quite fascinating and to see the changes in urine as the patient's condition changed.

There are energy practitioners that have dissolved tumors and filmed the act using ultra sound. Several KZbin videos showing the tumors dissolving as the practitioners focus on the tumors and chant. The Buddhist doctors in this video seem to only tell the terminal patients to prepare for death. Energy medicine might save them.

I really appreciate the documentary, with one reserve, though: the medical knowledge in the eastern, central and western regions of now Russia - therefore not just Siberia, but also Scythians, Alan’s, Sarmatians, etc (they gave way to Celts and Druids) were long present and documented, even before Christian Era - see at least Herodotus, describing the Thracians. the direction of informing “Tibetan medicine” that started with Buddha (??) was the other way, not from, but towards the Tibet.
@mirellajaber77044 жыл бұрын

Imagine...a doctor who takes his oath seriously and actually PRAYS for patient’s well-being. Such would never be anything but dis-qualification for AMA license in United States and probably most Western profit-oriented medical practices and is anathema to drug dispensers. Papal infallibility isn’t as doctrinaire as orthodox allopathy and shrinks from it’s historical counterpart: homeopathy/natural cures.

There are many things I agree with. The whole plant medicine, the kindness, the meditation, yoga, breathing, mindfulness, plant teas, Tibetan singing is wonderful and the instruments. I agree with sky burial where the body is left for the birds to eat on mountain tops. But some Buddhists as shown in this film have accepted Western burial traditions such as coffin burials which are not beneficial for the Earth. The greenest and kindest burial is burying the corpse naked about 3 to 5 feet into the Earth soil and then water the grave every day for the Earth worms to grow and recycle the carcass into healthy soil. This is a very important method which prevents methane and other toxic gases from developing and leaking out. It's a healthy recycling system. The sky burial is good too but because of environmental disruptions from pollution many species have become extinct including scavenger birds. In some areas there are very few scavenger birds to eat a carcass. It's better to bury corpses (from any species) and Never cover the body with clothes, materials or balms. This is how nature has worked the best long before humans began with religious rituals and fear of death. In regards to assisted dying I find it extremely important to help a terminal, very old animal or human transition to the non physical. It is the compassionate way to Not leave a being in pain and suffering. I'm against artificial insemination of any species including humans. Reproduction should happen naturally. I am pro birth control and abortion. The world is overpopulated and only religious indoctrination raves against birth control and abortion (and the corporate agenda keeps religion going to increase their numbers of customers). I am against animal testing! Gautama Buddha's teachings were about ending suffering. His message was: Live with love.
@clayandputtyvideos16474 жыл бұрын
@JJ Gilligan For my own philosophy it does not contradict itself. I created my embryos. My body created them. My body and brain wanted them to grow it's the natural proliferation system. My rational mind however knew that their lives would most likely not become free from suffering because I was mentally ill, had no money and the world is already overcrowded with humans. Why bring a child into a chaotic world (chaos created by the mentally ill human species) where there is so much uncertainty and so much suffering? I didn't want my kids to suffer the way I had suffered my whole life.
@clayandputtyvideos16474 жыл бұрын
@JJ Gilligan There is the religion again just as I predicted it. "God" is a religious idea. Where I grew up we all had abortions and we all viewed it rather as a dangerous situation. Here in the USA people are drilled with the Christian doctrine thus they think they go to hell.
