There are @ least 3 areas where it began to.sag. All oriented on the "man" who's job it was to nail the yard marker. Then rt before that all comes together, they break apart. You do it @ speed & hopefully decrease the chances that the judges have time to mark it all down Sometimes it works. Sometimes not. This is exactly why the Midwest & the DCI usurpers decided to do away w/anything that resembled straight lines for the duration of the 80s. Then decided to junk m&m expertise forever. But here we are, as a sop to the data they mined this past yr on here: "You like REAL marching?? Here!"

Tempus meaning timeline, or a play on the word "tempest", meaning "storm". Viewed from above, the opening image is a weather channel "whirl" symbol like they use for hurricane reporting. The stage sets are like waves that gather in a line in the backfield at the end to represent a timeline of blue in art and culture throughout history.

@@jesuspectre9883 Weeelll, technically "timeline" implies a straight line - no hands involved @ all. Time line pertains more to description & things like that which are written down. A timeline is lineal. One straight line OR @ least one continual line. The hands on a clock are the more advanced practices of the old original sun dial. And I believe the idea for the use of hands on the face of the evolved-to clocks came from the observance of the way the shadow moving over a sun dial gave a measurement of the passage of time. So, on the contest field you're a bit limited to what you can do to represent the passage of time in your drill. Straight lines are more or less it. The only other thing I can imagine is going thru a numeral "countdown", w/numbers being continually formed somewhere on the field. That part of the drill would need to remain static, of course, unless your outfit is into doing stuff like "Script Ohio" or something. 😁

@@3r1nn_ ok, I don't know what the rest of these outfits do, but my corps did close order drill all yr around. You learned straight from the U.S. Army drill manual. And I'll let you in on a little "secret" abt how we got it that clean: It all is oriented on learning "8 steps for every 10 yds...".

Is there a show about people joining the blue devil's and the auditon process. I'm a big HBCU and BIG 10 band fan. The blue devils aren't my preferred style but I can recognize talent and skill and a show or mini series covering it would be cool to watch. Ohio State, Bethune cookman, southern university have had one in some form or another.
