Had one coming pretty regular to our pond so we hid in the bushes . When he flew by I scooped him out of the air with a landing net . He got tangled a little bit but we released him and never saw him again. Education is everything.

Aside from motion detector sprinkler systems, there are motion detector noise-makers with strobe lights that work very well against herons and egrets, as well as cats, raccoons, etc.

Very innovative. I would never have thought of the motion activated sprinkler. I would have turned to the sub-sonic rounds in my .22 to solve that problem permanently. Enjoy your videos very much.

Hey bamabass, I watch your videos often and I had the exact same problem with a crane that kept returning to the pond to eat my goldfish. I have a fix for you if you cannot get rid of the bird :) You probably have a lot of this material...take your fishing line and string it across the pond using stakes. You can make like a cover and almost like an invisible net that covers the pond. Might take a little bit of time to accomplish this project but it will pay off. The crane returned and constantly got caught in the fishing line. Get back to me if you want but I definitely recommend using this technique!

I have a 1,000 gallon pond with Shubunkin and have had problems with Blue Heron especially in the mornings. Read up about herons and discovered that they are very territorial. Got a two foot tall metal Heron statue and placed it where we saw the real bird standing. Haven't had the real Heron back at our pond since.

I've got a pond and we use to have heron problems too until we tied fishing string above our pond. As long as the string is clear color it will work. Because of the clear string, the bird won't see it so when it flies into the string it'll feel it and fly off. So far we haven't seen our heron or any other heron come back.

@ BamaBass get a light beam alarm to warn you as it happens. the beam is broken notifies you instantly, and you can take countermeasures like in the previous video were you sighted it in. Probably couple hundred bucks fora permanent warning system. this will also most likely not be the only predator visiting in the future so it would benefit you later down the road of predators. set it up were it likes to hunt or the danger zone since it shares the danger spot for the fish.

I got my wife with the sprayer from the kitchen sink one time. Wrapped a rubber band around it. When she turned the water on she got soaked. She flipped the f*#k out.. so be careful with that lol 😂

I have the same motion sprinkler, but I used it to stop neighbors dogs from crapping on my lawn, also works on mailman from taking shortcuts. He used the shortcut so many times, it was creating a dead path.

They are a smart bird, at our old lake house we used to keep fish in a old washing machine well with a grate on top, one day we watched one knock the grate off the well then eat a few bluegill.

I've just discovered your channel yesterday! I've subscribed and have been "binge" watching two or three videos at a time as time permits. Your comment on using a fake Heron and moving it around to the live Heron doesn't figure out it's a fake reminded me of problems we had where I worked with Canada Geese. The geese themselves weren't the problem it was the little "presents" they were leaving all over the sidewalks and parking lot. Management put out a couple of fake coyotes to scare them away. Worked for a couple of days, but, as you said, the geese figured out the non-moving coyotes were fake. The company blog included a picture of a goose standing on top of one of the "coyotes". 😁

We have many herons in Amsterdam. They mostly hang out at street markets, fish mongers and fast food outlets. The shy ones fish in parks and canals. Koi keepers hate them. Some use nets to protect their precious fish, but overhanging trees do the job also. Herons don't like places from which it is difficult to fly away.

Swan decoy attached by fishing line and a weight to the bottom of the pond. Place near area where water movement from waterfalls moves the swan.

If you can can you put crawdads in the pond. Also I recommend you should put underwater lights facing the surface to attract bugs for the bass. But crawdads is a really good idea. And put more fish in.

Hey, they do make motion detectors that use your garden hose water. It sprays when acvtivated. Post a couple around the pond. Brilliant i know.

I know I suggested the water gun but I’m pretty sure after a while the blue heron won’t be afraid of it. I think it’s like a temporary fix. I wonder if you should have two of the sprinklers on each side it Would be more effective? I’ve heard of them not working after a while. Good thing you have the motion alert pager. Bonnie and Clyde are not out of the woods yet.

What about a noise buzzer that plays high pitch noises when the bird is detected I’ve seen a few before but they are meant to keep away squirrels idk you could try I have done any research on then though But that hose you are using now looks good

I can't believe I can solve your problem!!! I had a problem with cats leaving me NASTY PRESENTS in my large flower garden and I discovered a Animal activated repellant and sprinkler that you hook up to your water hose. When it detects any movement it sprays the parameter of a half circle like a really fast water sprinkler. It works day and night. Guaranteed to scare off anything!!!! Hope you read this and give it a try!!! 🦅🦅🦅🦅

The only problem you would have with that is what you said earlier... that if the bird keeps coming back it will figure out where to go to not get sprayed so that might be a factor but other wise a good peaceful solution

When I fish off the pier in Florida they have little metal pieces that work as spikes on a tube or strip and they place em on areas where them and seagulls land. You could make some homemade real easy and mount em on the rocks around the pond. If the blue heron cant stand close to stalk he cant get em

when you turn it on the water goes in the pond ,using a hose could harm fish so i suggest to put stuff in the pond to get the chlorine out of the water.or hook it up to the skimmer so there will be no chlorine
