Such a beautiful, gentle and tender interview. ‘We didn’t have any expectations , we just hoped we whispered something good’ 🙏😔

In the small amount of interviews I have seen with Paul he seems a typical quiet under confident Scotsman and someone I would go out for a drink with. That's my personal gauge of someone who is ok, would I go out with a drink with them? I'm sure Paul is relieved :).

The first 2 albums by the Blue Nile are 'classic'. Listening to Hats for the first time I wasn't sure of it but after a few listens (about 30 years ago) I thought it was as good if not better than 'rooftops'. This is how it is with music that lasts, it is not instant gratification. I am primarily a prog/metal fan so know that some music requires a degree of staying power. I wish someone had kicked their arse a bit more during this time to be a bit more prolific, they could have been huge. They had support from the likes of Peter Gabriel so it was all there for them. I have 3 grown up daughters and son in laws and try to convert them to the 'secret' that is the music of Blue Nile. Just to bring the tone down a bit, what about Rickie Lee Jones .......😜

Easter Parade, is a gorgeous track.. I would've loved a couple more duets with Rickie back then. Her voice was at its peak!

It's interesting how much RLJ looks like mid '70s Joni Mitchell in this clip.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder … I loved the intense close-ups. These are wonderful musicians who obviously appreciate the artistry of each other. The tight shots help to reveal this, imo.
