I am a watcher and follower of Ajahn Brahm and Ajahn Martin videos. They have helped me in ways that cannot be measured. Without them, I would more lost and further down in Hell. So please continue to make your teachings available to the world. Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu!

so I picked up some melatonin on a whim...haha turns out they are blue pills. I'm all for dealing with real-world issues and finding workable solutions. Joined a Tai chi class this week, so that's something. Meditation by breath is difficult for me. Sometimes I can get to 10 breaths. This is hard because I'm used to being skilled at things, and then I find out how obstreperous my thinking can be. Please continue these talks. They are helpful and interesting.

That 1st question was right on. The Buddha supposedly said he had nothing to teach. Getting there in practice is the issue.

30:50 indeed, in the Aranavibhanga sutta (MN 139) the Buddha specifically encourages to find pleasure within oneself, which is the pleasure of jhana

my suggestion is to adopt the practice of accepting written questions from the audience, makes it easier for people who are reluctant to speak up, they don't require encouragement to not be shy, this provides for anonymity if anyone seeks such and you also avoid questions growing into dialogues they do so in Singapore to great effect

not to be judgmental but watching movies doesn't really agree with the 10 precepts

I guess it is ok because it is to educate the lay people who might be able to relate to the dhamma that way. It all depends on the thought behind it as long as the action does not harm anyone. For some people, the teachings are difficult to relate to as they are so entangled in this materialistic world.
