Just loved watching this amazing scene of normally hard working horse and man having fun on the beach. What a great release for them both after endless hours of standing amongst the annoying unappreciative public at Horseguards in London. What is it with tourists who are often rude to the soldiers. I am passing this wonderful film on to friends worldwide for them all to appreciate. More of this please. I loved one scene in particular where the large dark bay obviously was not happy going in to deeper water, so the soldier turned the horse round and proceeded to back the horse in to the deeper water. Thank you for posting this, it has made my day. xx

Loved that horse in the water but with his back resolutely turned. It's just such a horse way to deal with it. "I'm not sure about this "sea" stuff.... I'll go in if you insist but I'm NOT looking at it and that's final!!! " Reminds me of when we took my nieces QH colt to the beach for the first time. When we came over the dunes and saw the ocean he just froze.... You could see the cogs turning "that is THE biggest puddle I've EVER seen!!! " but we did get him to stand in the shallows at least... Even tho he was convinced it wanted to eat him lol

Buckingham Palace has grounds galore, most of it is not accessible to public but the acreage is stunning. The London stables about a mile from the Palace is right on Hyde Park too.

Why do members of the public feel the need to get so close? They must be really stupid not to realise that if one of those horses bolts (like one did) they might be in the way. The guys had to worry about their horses, each other AND stupid members of the public getting in the way.

some of these horses are smarter than their riders - horses don't natural like to be in water, the ground underneath is soft and the turbulent waves are scary - apparently many of the guards were educated about the fact that horses are prey animals an anything new/unknown can cause their 'flee' defense to kick in - what humans think is fun isn't automatically seen the same by animals, even big ones -

Salt water, waves and being kicked in the ribs, mmm, some day out for these intelligent, beautiful creatures. I wish they could experience a day without those bits though. I feel sorry for the horses... some seem not wanting to go into the deeper side of the water... actually most horses like the seaside but often prefure the mor shallow water .. one cannot/should not force a horse if it is unsure... the sea was also quite gushing up, so that might make some of them to feel unsecure... and why hold the rains to close and tight... that builds up rather tension then relaxing the horse l find... l grew up on the northsea and l've seen riders on the beach.. but they gave way to the reins, so that the horses could strech their necks... they seemend far more relaxed than these horses.... but it is good for their joints to be in saltwater.... and the beach ist good ground for walking... l hope they still had fun out of it...

@imadobermom Жыл бұрын
I see this as not only time away to relax for both horses and soldiers, but additional training too for the horses. Getting them used to the surf is really no different than getting them accustomed to blowing trash on the street, honking horns, loud traffic or mobs of handsy tourists. The soldier that was backing his horse into the surf was likely doing so the horse wouldn't be afraid of the waves coming AT him. It gives the horse time to adjust to the sounds and sensation before having to confront the "visual". Also, letting a horse dictate to the rider where it will go or not is not acceptable. I've had to back horses up a few times when they didn't want to move forward, and once they understood they were safe and they wouldn't get away with refusing, I didn't have any more issues.

@mehitabel12902 жыл бұрын
@@nitetrane98 "Laugh" is one thing. "Scream" is another. There is no reason why a child should SCREAM other than when it's in terrible danger, or enormous pain. Just like any other animal. The normalisation of SCREAMING as part of childhood is confined to anglophone societies (have you ever passed a playground in Asia...?) and is both dangerous for the children, because of the Cry Wolf effect... And a form of bullying to those around them. As in "How DARE you complain because my child's Absolutely Normal Screaming caused your horse to bolt and you were hurt?"...... Children are perfectly capable of understanding that there are some situations in which they need to be careful of the noise they make - and that the presence of animals is one of them.
