F10 M5 was a beast, Only RWD with that snappy gearbox kicking you in the butt when shifting is something else. These new m's are cool and good looking, but you will never get that raw sensation again, especially not with these new transmission that change very fast

to be fully honest i was a die hard hater of the new M5 but when my sister bought one i started to like it alot and it has grown on me, honestly the car drives insanely good and it feels super planted even before the 1200 mile break in period. Side note: (its faster than the previous generation F90)

What hurt me the most when first seeing the g90 was the fact that bmw kinda ruined the solid design history they had going for the 5 series. Throughout each design era bmw went through all the other cars got super weird designs but the 5 series always stayed fairly traditional. Even the e60 looks great compared to the other chis bangle designs that were around back then.

I ordered a 2024 G82 M4 Comp last year, and as I was waiting the few months for it to finish production, I joined some forums and subreddits for BMW, as it was my first BMW, coming from a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu. I thought the G82 looked great, but reading those forums.... man, people were lighting the G8X series UP lol. I think, as someone who isn't much of a car guy, and someone new to BMW, I didn't have any legacy bias due to the previous generations. But it seemed BMW purists HATED it. It did grow on many people, but still. I get a shit ton of compliments on my car though, and I couldn't be happier with it.

The G80 and 82 still ugly to me. The G90 M5 never looked bad to me. If you compared its looks to the F90, it'll look like a gremlin but on its own, it is a pretty good muscular looking behemoth of a car. I've defended that car wayyy harder in KZbin comments that I reasonably should be doing but it had to be done. Y'all just don't like stuff that looks different to what you're accustomed to

Because they are creating cars for the future, then cars looks modern for longer time and of course people are not used to something new. Despite cost cutting weird rear arch transition - G90 looks really good. G99 looks much better. And no, F8 was not perfect, looks old already.

The design of the new m5 is not that bad its decent in my book (except the back its awful) but my complaint is that its a step down from the F90. It weighs 2,400KG which is insane and unnecessarily a hybrid car that no one asked for.

Technically you and everybody else did ask for it. It’s either a V8 with the hybrid or a 6 cylinder M5 Or worse, a 4 banger hybrid like Mercedes foolishly did. Be grateful BMW listened to us because since the G90 came out there’s been rumours they were planning to make it electric from the start. 😅

@ If you’re referring to the new hybrid 911 I’d say it’s unfair to compare a sedan to a sports coupe. A family car has more requirements and rules to follow if it wants to be sold across the world. Porsche is a brand that 1) has money to fund R&D to make a light weight 911 hybird 2) has the backing of the largest automotive group in the world, VW(even more money for R&D). Also, the new 911 hybrid has a motor in the transmission and on the turbocharger and they’re powered by 12 volt battery. Them being spread out like that would contribute to the minimal weight gain. Whereas the G90’s battery covers the entire floor.
