Craig, you were my intro to youtube! ☺ I wanted to do the Bavarian pattern for my project, and Somehow I came upon your tutorial. That was about 3 years ago, and I am glad that I am still here. I am thankful for you. You are a blessing to me. I hope 2025 is a wondrous time for you and your Mom with much love and joy. 🥰🤗

Great stitch...kinda like a modified Tunisian stitch. I make comfort shawls for charity and this would certainly help to hurry the process along. 🤗 The overall effect is quite lovely. Thanks for another great tutorial 😉

At the age of 68, I'm new to crochet - well almost. My Grandma used to crochet a lot so she would give me a ball of wool and a crochet hook, make the chain and do a couple of rows for me. I was about 6 years old at the time and just couldn't get the hang of it (but it did keep me out of her hair LOL). I'm a good knitter having been taught by our neighbour who was a Shetland knitter and I'm a good dressmaker but crochet always eluded me - until recently. Bought a cheap crochet hook set from Amazon, all sizes in a neat zip up pouch which included a lot of really useful bits and pieces, like stitch markers etc. Some of these are for knitting rather than crochet but for £6.99 (around $9) a great little kit. Don't think I'll need anything else. Decided to give it a go, learned the basic stitches (I'm in the UK so our terminology is different). Made a scarf in a lovely shell stitch as a Christmas gift for a friend and currently working on a beanie hat. Also made a doily in acrylic wool so going to make some more in cotton as place mats. After that I will probably make this shawl. Subscribed.

I wish I could post a picture of the beret I made following your 7 year old, but invaluable, beret video tutorial. I am commenting here because it seems comments have been turned off on that video. I used 100% wool in light gray as I wanted to try felting it when done. It worked! Turned out so cute after some stretching out of the head hole 😅.

I shy away from big projects like scarves, shawls, blankets, and afghans because I get bored and tired of the same thing for what seems to take so long to get any length. So, I make small things like coasters, bowl cozies, and small toys or key chains. But, after I finish the bowl cozies I'm working on and the 17 inch tall doll and monkey that I promised 2 five-year olds, I'm going to make this shawl in the yarn you used at first. Maybe in a different colorway, but probably the same one if I can get it. Thanks so much!

@brendab66954 күн бұрын
At first, I was thinking it was a little complicated, which always intimidates me. Then, I just watched and figured out it was easier than I thought. I could see the rows as you did them and it made sense to me. I have to go back and see how many skeins of the skinny cakes did you use. It would be a fun project I have a large skein of mandala chimera that might look pretty as this shawl. Great time saver. I wonder how it would work if you were just doing straight rows and not a shawl?
@dianeky617Күн бұрын
Wow what a great stitch! Your videos with the way you teach is awesome! What would the multiple be for an Afghan? Could you do a short video on starting an Afghan and the next couple rows?
