The issue I had was that Boba supposedly lived among the bounty hunters and crime bosses while never once learning how that world operated. He came off as someone who finally got promoted beyond his capabilities and it showed. I don't think that's what anyone wanted. We wanted John Wick in space.

Boba Fett trying to compete with any professional gangster who would have an entire system backing them up, let alone Hutts in the Mafia game would've been laughable. Boba Fett trying organize a world into fighting back against oppressive gangsters is at least plausible. The show still fucked that up, but it pissed me off less than if they had tried the utterly ridiculous Mafia angle everyone else wanted.

@@yannym4605 What should have happened is boba trying to forcefully integrate the Tuskens into Tatooine's culture. Suddenly, wanting to be respected and not feared makes sense, as a guy leading an army of Tuskens would be feared but not respected. Suddenly, he has a major stake, as he has people he cares about involved. He also would be an actual powerful force, able to pose a threat to the other families. It would singlehandedly solve like every issue with the plot.

If you kidnap and torture to death John Smith of 123 Elm Avenue it's the exact same charge as if you kidnap and torture Leroy Skuggs of 789 Oak Street. They're doing the same things. We actually see these Tuskens commit more crimes than the ones in the prequels.

It's like what Boba Fett should be in the audience mind is different with the showrunner's. Changes in character should be subtle, gradual, dictated by experiences that happen along the way, not on the nose like this. They could just establish his badassery of old for the first season, from his habits of disintegrating targets, him being a lone wolf, his hatred for Jedi, and make him slowly realize that maybe there are other ways of doing things. Maybe now that he's old, he needed the extra hands, maybe now..instead of doing things himself..he would instead lead. Then he will gradually changes into a benevolent but deadly grandpa in the second or third season. Instead we got some stranger thrown at us, might as well name him a different character altogether.

Grogu's choice to return to Mando would be more interesting if he had actually spent time getting force training and growing a relationship to Luke and possibly other trainees. It would have been cool to have, like, a "jedi academy" series in between where Grogu finally grows a tiny bit and becomes more interactable, I'd have finally made the switch to Sebastian Stan as Luke, assuming he'd want the role, and embraced moving that storyline forward with a new face. I think people would have accepted it. The story could then lead to some point where Grogu reflects on his time with the Mandalorian and how it contrasts to the light side and his other general Jedi training. It would also give them a chance to have made a Mandalorian season 3 where we had to get to know Din without Grogu again.

The one annoying trend that I'm seeing in these star wars shows is how stale they are with their locations. Nearly every new planet they arrive at are just forests and deserts. I miss when they showed wacky and weird looking planets in the clone Wars. I know it's harder to show that in a live action show, but Disney is putting away more money in their series compared to other companies

The way I racionalize Boba Fett is, that he needs to have this period of establishing his leadership, you'll get much more loyal subordinates with respect than with fear. Now they know that Boba Fett has their backs and he will fight side by side with them no matter what. And the other bosses now know that he will fight. Also you can tell for how people react when they enter any place that people are really scared of Mandalorians, you know not to mess with them. And that was his biggest problem trying to be a Daimyo. What's the point of being the boss if everyone is gonna run away from you, you are gonna end up being the boss of empty land. Also when he was attacked in the street, he just shot a guy running away, he was an enemy, no honor or mercy, shot in the back, because he's still a bounty hunter shooting at a target. But still why, WHY do those Mandalorian episodes, that was so unnecessary, that could've easily been a half episode kind of flashback at the start of season 3 of the Mandalorian.

They enslaved him and treated him like shit and he grew feelings for them. What the fuck? Then he proceeded to be the most consistently incompetent protagonist I’ve ever seen. The finally was full of nonsense and plot armor. Luke( the guy who saved Vader from the dark side through his attachment to his son AND is now aware of the mistake that the Jedi made) isn’t allowing attachments at his school….

To be perfectly honest, they could just retire The Book of Boba Fett and double the episode count for The Mandalorian instead. It was enjoyable, but the Din Djarin centered episodes where SO much better and so much more fan than the rest of the show. Boba Fett is a boring character with a cool outfit, while Mando is actually an interesting character AND has a cool outfit to boot. ;)
