Your comment about being about the journey rather than the destination immediately brings to mind Stormlight Archive. Without spoiling it, the phrase "Journey before Destination" is very important to that story.
@Thomas.R.HowellАй бұрын
I LOVE that. It's a principle I stand by not only when it comes to reading books but just life in general. I'm excited to dive into Stormlight sooner or later!

I recently paid a visit to my local library, and it has a little store where you can purchase donated books. I came across Name of the Wind and decided to buy it. I had seen a reading vlog about it, and now, after watching your review, I am so glad I have a copy. I can't wait to read it. Thanks for the recommendation.

This brings a smile to my face. I’m so happy! I wish I could read it for the first time again! Ps stay away from these comments there are a few folks who have spoiled quite a bit of the book. Id hate for things to get ruined for you. Happy reading! Please comment back when you’re done would love to hear your thoughts.

I’m currently reading Niel Shusterman’s Arc of a Scythe trilogy, and I am in love with these books. They are like a darker, deeper more philosophical version of The Hunger Games (my favourite book series). Highly recommend to dystopian lovers out there!

The book that got me back in to reading after about 10 years of barely even touching a book was the Hunger Games. I remember feeling a little nervous at first about whether I could even get in to the swing of it after so long, but it almost immediately hooked me and I fell back in love with the hobby. For that it will always have a special place in my heart now

P.S. The book that got me into reading consistently was The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams. It's such a beautiful story about relationships, love, human connection, the power of books, and how it can connect strangers in seconds. It's a treasure of a book.

Such an incredible video! The book that started it all for me was actually The Eye of the World. Picked it up out of nowhere and have been in love with the series ever since. Currently reading book 13 on my first read through and it is phenomenal, but none are quite as special to me as book one. It will always hold such a dear spot in my heart because it has made me find magic within books. Love your work Thomas ❤

Thank you so much! I actually made a video a couple weeks ago discussing my wheel of time journey up to book 11! Eye of the world sticks with me the most out of the series because I’m always nostalgic for beginnings. It’s cozy. It’s the simples times before the grand adventure!

I love the cozy coffee making moment! I could watch that all day. Thank you for sharing your passion for the book that started your reading journey! My first book that started it for me was House by Frank Peretti and my new book that got me excited to read again recently was The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab. a beautiful book about love and growth in adversity, also has some fun twists! Can't wait to see the next video!

I was around 30 when the H Potter books came out (aging myself now lol) and I will always have a special place in my heart for them. It got me back into reading after a 10 year dry spell . Name of the Wind was one of the first adult fantasy books I read and I ADORED it. I was amazed at how involved I became in the story. I proceeded to read a lot of fantasy after that but nothing gave me the feeling that Name of the Wind gave me. I'm embarrassed to say I never carried on with the rest of the series. I don't read much fantasy anymore but if I were to go back to the genre, the first thing I would do would be to re read Name of the Wind.

It's truly beautiful when books have a meaningful impact in our lives. How they stick with us for years later. I have yet to re-read Name of the Wind but I know it'll feel like a warm blanket on a cold fall morning.

Beautifully said. Loved the conversation of this video with the subtle comedic comments. I feel like I can really enjoy my morning cup of coffee while hearing your review of this book! Great first video, can’t wait to see and hear more! And to answer your question, the book that started it all for me was ‘Every Summer After’ by Carley Fortune. A cheesy, but thoughtfully written romance book.

Hey mate! Just stumbled upon your channel. The Name of The Wind was also deeply moving for me, pulled me back into the fantastic that I fell in love with as a kid. I'd check out The Will of the Many, the only book I've found in the last few years that I can say moved me in a similar way. Love the simplicity and delivery in your vids. Keep it up.

I grew up with Harry Potter series and was recommended name of the wind being told it was the “adult” Harry Potter. I tried reading it twice and DNF’d it both times. Everything up to University was great then it’s just a repetitive struggle with no direction. Glad someone enjoyed it but it wasn’t for me.

@@Thomas.R.Howell don’t get me wrong, up until he gets to university I was absolutely hooked. Everything in tarbean was absolutely crushing until the day he left. Mostly so when his father’s lute gets broken… heartbreaking. I would have loved to enjoy the latter half as much as the fist but it just didn’t go that way for me. Some of my recent favs are 11/22/63 East of Eden Lonesome Dove Im just starting the expanse series so we’ll see how that goes.
