Exactly. It was just normal shop talk. They were trying to get a rise out of her so she'd loosen up. Yes, the lesbian joke was maybe a bit much, which is why neither of them retaliated after the punch. They knew he had that one coming, and he can handle himself. Plus she at least threw the punch like a man. The kick to the balls was unnecessary and a bitch move, leading to Murph dropping the all the pretense, treating her like a man, and punching her square in the face.

Boondock Saints was blacklisted from theaters due to it being released right after a mass school shooting. Blockbuster video rental stores agreed to carry it. Because of this the copies of Boondock Saints rented and sold by Blockbuster are different than later releases. That includes some "deleted scenes" being included in the actual run of the film.
