Can we point out exactly what was so bad about this episode compared to the other episodes? I mean off the top of our heads. It’s a nerve in comparison, but it’s not horrible. Other than the fact we know the original writer was no longer here. So maybe it’s psychological.

@@lisabarnes924 I just checked out Antonio Carr's comment I can't say he said it best at all since I don't agree. Ruckus, of all people, saying the N-word too much? He's racist. And all the characters say the word. I don't know if you've noticed, but the people we're watching react to this show CONSTANTLY say it. NON-STOP. It's also kinda random to just decide when is specifically too much. Ruckus has ran for power before in an earlier season. His rise to power now is likely meant to be temporary and to change things up. Grandad is a bitch. I totally buy him letting someone talk to him like that in his own house given how the person talking to him was acting. Them being broke I can buy as well. Grandad is irresponsible. He was too cheap to even pay for the movies yet also splurges on dumb shit. So he's also stupid. Grandad selling his family into slavery is funny because he's just that dumb. It's not the first outrageous dumb thing to happen on this show. There's a lesson to be learned from that. And it's portrayed as a bad thing. Not a good thing. The "slavery" arc is also effective as showing a potential form of modern literal slavery and what a dumb mistake it is. They always portrayed it as a bad thing and had them take it down. No one complained when we were being told stories about Catcher Freeman and all the slaves were constantly using the N-word like in modern times, or complaining about how they made light of slavery in their portrayal. It's comedy. A lot of these are very personal opinions that sound like they're warped by some kind of over looming influence, which I still think is a bias based on the fact we know the creator was no longer working on the show. Reasonable, but I'm just saying.

Everyone hates on this episode, but the reality is people do sign their lives away and we are in virtual slavery today. Just because it ended bad for our favorite family does not mean the message is not real. The show was made me laugh and it put a real message out there. I know Mr. McG didn't have a real hand in it, but John Witherspoon held Season 4 down too or it would have totally collapsed. That said, I did like the message - very important , for black and all people!

It kind of makes me cringe when everybody has that huge reaction when the white guy uses the N-word. But he uses it the same way that all the other characters do. He didn’t do anything bad. It’s just like that episode with the teacher. So kind of makes me wonder if it’s still bad if the white character were to be voiced by a black guy. I don’t know, I think the whole controversy about the N-word is really dumb. Either everyone should be able to say it or no one should say it because it’s bad. The way it is right now is obviously confusing and nonsensical. But I kind of accept that at the same time. I also thought the episode was OK. I don’t see what’s trash about it. The only thing that was a little bit wrenching was the ending about slavery. But even then I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. Mainly because the characters have gotten in bad situations before by making dumb decisions. So obviously the decision is dumb, but that’s what’s funny about it. It’s funny because he was obviously making bad decisions. And it seems like it kind of also touches on an issue in society. When I first saw it, it just made me assume I was going to later see how they would get out of it. But again, even then that is the only thing that I can see being an issue with the episode. The rest of the episode seemed pretty normal.
