At this point, I'm convinced the media talking heads only hyped mavs up because they know celtics is the most hated franchise and if they flat out all said celtics had it in the bag, many wouldn't tune into the finals except c's fans. Afterall, NBA ratings have been trash in the last how many years. Too easy for them to do since most of them already have their own personal biases against the celtics.

Such a good point. Vegas always knows the deal. Talking head cater to whichever way the winds blow. Winds wanted us to believe the Mavs were a good basketball team, when really they were two great players making other decent players look special. The Celtics were 2 superstars and 4 all stars blended together in perfect harmony with some solid bench contributors

JB has been flourishing with the left hand for the entire season and JT, contrary to what the box score monkeys say, was great the entire playoffs with his playmaking and constantly opening up the opposition defense. Add to that the fact that every single Celtic player is a fantastic defender within their system, which is flexible enough to work against literally anyone (barring maybe Jokic), they should all deserve much more credit than they're given. One might almost think that the talking heads only watch box scores and highlights... oh wait. That's all they do...

The NBA and NBA media humiliated themselves. They cherry-picked and created metrics like this whole 'hardest path by opponent win totals' while completely ignoring the fact that by established metrics this was an elite Celtics squad. They talked about how the Mavs had this elite offensive back court that was going to destroy the Celtics while refusing to mention that, per NBA players, Jrue is the best on-ball defender in the NBA and Derrick White is also elite and that, unlike the Celtics, the Mavs are heavily reliant on their two stars to initiate basically everything on the offensive end. I even heard someone talk about how the Celtics lacked reliable depth...as if the Mavs have a plethora of reliable talent to turn to on the bench (no offense to the Mavs, but their #3, 4, and 5 just can't compare to Porzingis, White and Jrue). I will say that the early season doubt was fair because of the recent Celtics' history. I think some of the criticism from a couple years ago (pre-Finals run) of the Jays is also fair. In the post-Kyrie seasons there was a legitimate question about whether JT/JB could figure it out together. Boston gambled that they could and they were right. The Jays did figure it out and they did learn to play off each other and that's been huge. Also, I said four years ago that if Tatum could take a step forward as a playmaker, the sky would be the limit for Boston and this was arguably his best season initiating offense.

Yes. If you wanna get lost in the weeds the Celtics technically only have 5. In 1978 the Celtics were sold to Irv Levin who was looking to move the team to California the NBA wasn’t a fan of this so The Buffalo Braves became the Celtics , The Celtics would become the San Diego Clippers. The two teams swapped rosters and some trades resulted that became the 1979 Draft pick of Larry Bird and sent Cedrick Maxwell to the Celtics. So technically the clippers own rights to 13/18 Boston championships. This all happened under Red Aurbachs nose without his knowledge.

What the analysts didn’t seem to get was Dallas played the Celtics 2 games during the regular season and The Celtics won both games. Just because the analysts likes Luka doesn’t mean the Mavs was going to win. My Celtics has the most Rounded team in the NBA. Our bench can score also. The analyst are like weather forecasters, they are mostly wrong but still has a job. Now eat your words and admit you were wrong.

Nobody bothers to play hard during the regular 82 games, they say "oh it's hust reg. season games it doesn't matter" But when the playoffs start and your weak ass team is 8 seed and is pinned to play the 1 seed they act like they're the victims "oh we had a difficult path" - Maybe if 70% of the nba didn't play like G league teams and didn't depend on one player on the team to carry everyone things would have looked better for yall, until then, CELTICS own the nba 🙏🏼☘️

Brown is not overpaid. Are people just forgetting he was the youngest person to ever lecture at Harvard? He could be doing anything other than playing in the NBA and still be making millions.

Stef and Klay in their primes wasn't even that long ago! People saying "The best backcourt in history" or "best offensive backcourt" is just wild. 3 Point shooting: Stef/Klay - 43%/41% | Kyrie/Luka - 39%/35% Klay was also a good defender (got DPOY votes + made 2nd team defense) and had a top 10 MVP season while Stef turned in some of the most efficient seasons in NBA history and won unanimous MVPs.

The so-called sports analysts should be forced to watch these clips of their collective idiocies every day until the start of next season. As a lesson they hopefully will absorb that the childish metrics they embraced are worthless when it comes to team chemistry, excellent team play, great defense, and other elemental fundamentals that even a high school player would understand more than those clowns in suits.

Why is it only a big deal when Tatum's shooting isn't efficient? Kyrie only had one game where he shot decent...Luka was scoring 28-30 points but was doing it on 23-25 shots, not to mention he disappeared in the 4th for games 1-3...The talking heads didn't make a big deal out of that?
