I'm glad it wasn't just me then! :D I first heard this tune at my mates house, NYE 2000 (popping my Technics cherry!)... Genuinely since then I've only ever been able to place the classical synth loop (can't place the piece of music) but never enough to name the track! Only taken me twenty fucking years of searching! :D Absolutely excellent tune, thank you internet! Haha!

@robwebster / Waxadisc Music - now it's clicked! I used to spin this a lot, had the promo issue from Manifesto Records, then had the cd single - which I still own. Progress was a night that took part in a venue up in Derby, used to be on or near Friar Gate before moving location, the nights had been going for years. Went to a couple of them, but was deejaying a lot myself at the time. I thought I recognized the name. Pretty sure the strings were sampled from the 'car advert' not the actual Madonna track. May be wrong but there was a car advert that mainly had the string section featured...
