An uncomfortable age gap doesn’t equal grooming either. Grooming is a very intentional and very mythotical deep thing where someone sets someone up for sexual abuse later on, dating someone you get on with isn’t necessarily grooming, Hell a 12 year old dating a 40 year old would be gross but grooming is a separate accusation and we should use it in specific situations.

16 isn't a child bro. You cannot disregard a law that states a person is of age to consent to a sexual relationship just because you personally don't agree. Although technically not classified as an adult till 18, from 16 there are many "grown up" things a 16 year old can do. Granted some are with parental consent but many not. "At 16 You can: Get married. Enter into a civil partnership. Consent to lawful sexual intercourse. Leave home without your parents/guardians’ consent. Apply for your own home through your local council. Have access to many more banking facilities, including all adult services, except overdrafts and credit. Buy wine, beer or cider to drink in a restaurant with a meal when a responsible adult is present, but cannot buy it in a bar, off-licence or supermarket. Join a trade union. Drive a moped, small agricultural tractor, or mowing machine. Leave school. If you are 16 between 1 March and 30 September you can leave after 31 May of that year and if you are 16 between 1 October and the last day of February you can leave at the start of the Christmas holidays in that school year. Get a full-time job and pay National Insurance. Choose your own GP. Change your name without the consent of your parent or guardian. Be sent to a young offenders' institution. Be prosecuted in the Justice of the Peace, Sheriff or High Court Stand for election to become a member of a Community Council in certain areas. If adopted, you have the right to access information relating to your birth and adoption. You can obtain your original birth certificate and request a copy of your adoption record and your court record. Find out more on the Citizen's Advice Scotland website. Join the armed forces, but not to train as an officer. You will also need parental consent if you are under the age of 18. You can apply from the age of 15 years 9 months. Be legally responsible for babysitting. Apply for a passport without parental/guardian consent. Consent to medical treatment (if you are under 16 you can also consent to medical treatment if you are capable of understanding the nature and possible consequences of the procedure and treatment). Opt-out of being an organ donor. Earn the National Minimum Wage for 16 and 17 year olds. Work as a waiter or waitress in a hotel or restaurant. Buy Premium Bonds. Get a piercing without parental/guardian consent. Buy a pet - you can own a pet before you’re 16 but you can’t buy one yourself without a parent present until you’re 16. You must pay full fare on trains (unless you have a Young Scot card which gives you up to a 1/2 off train fares!). Vote in a Scottish Parliament election and in a local council election." "Like adults, young people (aged 16 or 17) are presumed to have sufficient capacity to decide on their own medical treatment, unless there's significant evidence to suggest otherwise." If you can leave home, have a full time job, a partner and a child of your own, drink wine in a restaurant, make medical decisions, join the army, change your name etc etc I think your far from a childhood things. I'm sorry but you cannot disregard the rights a person has by law at 16 and 17 just because it suits a narrative, it's patronising to those young people who are more than capable of making many decisions on their own by law.

@@liittlemiissdmate by law they aren’t even an adult yet, I’m British and it so weird to me that a 16 can consent but you’re still a kid. You’re not an adult and you’re still a relatively young teen. @crappyaccount2 жыл бұрын
@@jadecoolness101 If you have/are being abused, your first step should be to take it to law enforcement instead of the internet regardless of what gender(s) either party is. In any case, I don't think people should really jump to picking a side at all when it comes to stuff like this. Neutrality is the best option until there is enough concrete evidence to prove one way or the other. But its just a fact of reality that claims like this are inherently polarizing, especially when they come from what is basically some random person on the internet that for all anyone knows could literally be anybody behind the keyboard. So its important to take into account how people will respond before making your private information public. Especially when you post anonymously. Because it is generally harder to trust someone you don't know even just in day-to-day life, much less in a situation like this where having as much information as possible is key. Some people will believe the claims automatically, some will be neutral and/or express a healthy amount of scrutiny, and some fans will be rabid and lash out because they refuse to even entertain the possibility their favorite person could do such a thing. I don't condone being aggressive, and those people should be stopped, but that's the reality of the world and especially the internet. In a perfect world it wouldnt happen but it does. Its a major decision to make allegations, so people need to consider if it's the right time for them before they do so, and whether the potential support outweighs the emotional toll of potential criticism (or insanity, which again is never acceptable). Especially because how the situation is handled can not only impact them but the credibility (in the public eye anyway) of others, as well. Making a highly viewed post and deleting it without warning or explanation will make supporters or neutral people wary of trusting anonymous claims again because it just adds an extra layer of doubt to the situation and any others like it, even if everything was true behind the scenes. And of course the rabids feel validated and possibly use it as counter evidence to sway others. Not saying I think all of the above is great, its just what happens and why people need to take it into account before they post. That is all. Side note: since at least its basically confirmed he dated a 17yo and wasn't even really trying to hide it, he of course needs to be in jail or some kind of registry or at the very least kept away from children. While I think the way the post was handled could have unfortunate results on the rest of the statements, that is enough to lock someone away for good. I'm not siding with this dude or saying he's innocent of everything. He is a predator.

When situations like this happen, I always have a hard time finding the balance between believing the victim and not invalidating their story and experience, and being skeptical of dodgey claims. I feel bad for questioning things because what if they're not ready to fully come out with the evidence and were just needing to get it off their chest? But on the other hand, making false claims is terrible and can ruin innocent people's lives. It's just sometimes hard to know who the real victim is. At this point, I'm leaning more towards the claim being true, but we just don't have enough information to be grabbing the pitchforks, yet.

it's easier to tell irl, these creators get to put out bespoke, curated images of their person. It's like tilting a camera in order to get the perfect angle, then processing the photo through 10 different filters and beauty sliders to the point where it barely looks like you. No shit you can tell irl, but if someone NEVER saw you in person, and you were skilled with recreating that image over and over, then they'd barely recognize the real you when confronted with it. @sharpeningtheaxe Жыл бұрын
I totally agree that this seems super messed up, but I don’t really understand the moral argument here. So even though at 16 someone can legally consent in the UK, it’s immoral because they’re still a child- but then you’re using the law to determine who is and isn’t a child. If we’re basing our morals outside of the law, why are we using the law’s arbitrary age of adulthood to define our morals? Brains take around 25 years to fully develop (sometimes longer), so there is no perfect cutoff where someone goes from child to adult- it’s a gradual progression. I understand the issue of the significant age gap combined with the power dynamic of this being a fan, absolutely. I just don’t understand the idea that you are one day a child and the next an adult based purely on the laws of where you live and not your actual brain development and maturity. If someone feels that an age gap created a power imbalance that was used against them to victimize them, I think that should be valid whether they are 16, 18, or 20. They are still a young person with a developing brain (even if the older person in the relationship is too).

Totally agree with this. I've also met 16-17 year olds who were more mature than the average 22-23, and 22-23 year olds who were less mature than the average 16-17 year old. Legally speaking, it's not illegal. Morally speaking, it really depends on the situation.

I got the ick from him sometimes but rationalized it by telling myself that he's human and we're allowed to disagree on things, which to an extent is still true, but to think I just pushed those feelings away is ugh. I should've realized sooner that his activism is just him grifting, especially when the truth about Cry came out, and the whole ordeal recently with Minx downplaying some serious stuff to protect someone with sa allegations. He was the company he kept. Back before I stopped watching his KZbin videos, when he would make fun of Tumblr and the "crazy SJW's", or something. I thought it was just because I was using Tumblr that I didn't like those comments, so I decided to agree to disagree, so I decided to listen to his music only. I know, logically, that I didn't know him, and he never knew me, so there's nothing most of us could've done, since we knew nothing, but it makes me regret introducing his music to other people regardless. Sometimes even when you think you're being careful, you can still fall into the parasocial trap of thinking you might know someone. Power is such a weird thing. My conflict management course mentioned that in almost every situation everyone involved perceives the power the others have incorrectly. For example a manipulator or dominator tends to do these things bc they perceive the person they are putting pressure on as having enough power to leave while those being manipulated perceive the manipulator as the one with more or all of the power. When someone tries to corner someone into a situation with verbal, emotional, and or physical abuse if is likely done out of some kind of fear. Additionally we talked about how we bring the standard for ourselves and others uphold the expectations. Or we only have as much power as we give/allow ourselves (within reason of course). If you're feeling stuck, try your hardest to figure out what your and those involved goals are and remind yourself that you are perceived to have more power than you think you have. Ik it's easier said than done

Soo.. the one thing that sticks out to me the most in this video is the way iNab says that Dave would be better off trying to prove his innocence instead of silencing a potential victim (not agreeing or disagreeing with that), but that leads me to ask.. how do you prove something DIDN'T happen? Lack of evidence isn't evidence that nothing happened. I have no clue how he could even begin to address that.. especially if no actual crimes took place. As far as the public knows, there's no reported crimes, no victims have come forward, no one is being sued.. with no actual people (except Dave) being involved, the original post is on the same level as some sort of a sick fanfic. Idk.. this whole thing is weird, but yeah.. that was just something that stuck out to me.

We do live in a time of "kill your idols" which is a double edged sword of the shame of well-liked people turning out to actually being really gross people but also those affected having the space to speak out instead of suffering in silence.... despite it all being morally grey and incomplete evidence Going forward I hope this makes any upcoming creators be more mindful of their actions and their influence/power over others (which really does corrupt)and they know that people will speak up and they can't just get away with their behaviour. You don't have to be a perfect person, just don't be gross.

when i was 18 years old, I was dating a 23 year old, I am the one who asked him out and he even asked my mom if it was okay because he was worried because I had just turned 18. (I was just looking for a relationship, I hadnt been in one before and thought he was cute, I know, not a reason to pursue a relationship) But, he was very respectful towards me and didnt ask me to do anything I didnt want to (we didnt do anything in the bedroom) and we broke up over not being able to see each other since neither of us had a car. Moral of the story, it is very easy to be respectful when dating someone, even when they are younger, I dont see how anyone wouldnt understand that. That's not even talking about the huge age gap, i mean the respect.

Ok ok Can we all Talk about how weird it is NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT HOW Rachel feels?! Like Her Face, name and part of her Experience with Someone, at a time of her life she may not want to Remember is tossed around the Internet, as a way to give evidence/Strengthen Aligations that the same person who she might want to forget MIGHT have done to others on a basis of an Anonymous let's Face it "Trust me guys" Open letter, SHE DIDNT CONSENT TO HER STORY WITH THIS GUY TO BE OUT! SHE'S THE ONE WHO DELT WITH HIM! SHES THE ONE WHO EXPERIENCED WHATEVER HAPPENED! And it is HER story as well as the Story of The ones who was hurt by HIM to come forward if they even WANT to! Because again IT'S THEIR experience! How do we know She or others Consented to the Open Letter, how do we know that Letter didn't re- traumitized others involved let alone the INTERNET getting involved for investigative purposes! Yes Inabber has censored her face, but many Others have not....and it doesn't take much to track what's already there through the internet. Has anyone Actually thought about How she or anyone else effected by this Guy might be feeling being put in a spotlight, this pressure to come forward, when they see their Alleged Predator Trending because of a Blind siding Letter they had no idea was coming?! Because so far We've only been talking about her/possible Them through "What he has done" not a "How the Hell are they feeling about this" and it doesn't feel right

So my baby momma and I split up. I'm 31 and she's 28. After we split she started seeing someone who was 42 and I tried really hard to explain to her why her red flags should be going off. Even when ur an adult being 28, if someone in there forties is trying to go after such young women there is probably a reason. Low and behold I have already gotten 2 calls from her at the hospital cuse he just "can't put up with her, her disrespecting him, her being overbearing, and he hits her." The power dynamic includes drugs sadly that he provides and now she's stuck feeling powerless. If a man is going after someone young and let's be honest vulnerable especially in your younger ages that speaks so much about that older person's character. I know this isn't true for everything sometimes it is okay for big age gaps, love is love I get that obviously not for children I'm speaking about young adults and older adults, but in this case it was incredibly telling and I could see the signs a million miles away. I hope my baby mother the best, but I am no longer responsible for her, and aside from trying to help her from a distance I owe her nothing else. It's very sad to deal with but I need only take care of myself and my children whom I have full time. Older men don't take advantage of a women's age thinking there inexperience is yours to take advantage of, women be careful of men who are much older then you and ask the question why are they not seeking people closer to there age. Red flags should be going off and you should at least cautiously move forward if you are to pursue the relationship. I know your not defenseless but these older people will purposefully target younger women with the sole reasoning that they can shape you to there mold, and control you thru there "many more years of experience" and if they have a power dynamic to use against you only makes them more confident that they can control you. And obviously this can be the same for younger men and older women. Just be careful please.

Im not Boyinaband fan, the last time I heard of him was in iDubbbz collab or something but sitll. There are so many things in this video that are stretches or just logical fallacies. It reminds me of ProJared situation after his accusations. "Oh he is silent so he is guilty" or "He did something bad or morally questionable that means he is guilty of everything" and "He have power and money so its power dynamic therafore he is abuser" - it's literally the same shit. Sure, you could say that dating someone who is still a minor is bad... Okay, but its still not illegal. If someone dont like it then its their problem. Im so tired of people like you on the internet with the "guilty until proven innocent" mentality. It caused so many problems in the past and somehow people still didnt learned. But hey - vultures like you have to make money somehow am I right? And Im definitely not saying he is innocent - not at all. However stirring drama for clicks even though it may cost someone career or even life is quite pathetic.

Here's my thing about putting out allegations about people: please... please.. PLEASE. don't blow it out of proportion, even if you feel like it's for the sake of good intentions it just ends up backfiring in the end and hurting the people you intend to help. I worry that's partly what happened with this deleted post. That perhaps they took a granule of the truth and blew it up into a bigger deal to get people's attention. In a similar sense that people are more likely to panic and call emergency services if a whole house is on fire than if just the pan on the stove top caught fire. I don't say this to imply Dave is innocent because honestly dating a 16yo with a 4+ year gap is suuuuper sketchy. But things like 'victims are in the double digits' and implications without examples or anything makes me wonder if they wanted to make Dave seem like a 'super villain' rather than just a 'villain'. It's not the first time people have gotten worked up about canceling someone and pulled allegations out of nowhere to beef up a person's guiltiness. It feels like people can't just be bad anymore, they have to be the worst bad person you've ever met that has countless victims and has done any and every kind of crime in existence. What I'm getting at is rather than raising awareness people are becoming obsessed with sensationalizing bad news to the point many people don't want to take any allegations seriously anymore. Much as what you inferred toward the beginning of your video, yes there are still *definitely* fishy things Dave did. But now that we have no idea what's really going on, I'm worried how many false allegations may have been fabricated just for the sake of dramatizing this and capitalizing on victims or whatever the hell people get out of this. I don't believe it would be out of place to bring up the issue of alarm exhaustion. People cry wolf about things enough and many others will stop caring even when something *is* wrong. And as a former victim of sexual assault and pedophilia myself, I really REALLY don't want to see people stop caring anymore than they already have.

I'm not taking sides here, but it takes two to tango. This reminds me too much of a guy I went to college with who almost got arrested because a girl he hooked up with at a party (everyone was over 21) and days later because he didn't want a relationship with her she tried to accuse him of rape. Fortunately she tried to use some other classmates as 'proof' which was BS, but by the time it was all over and she admitted it was false he lost his scholarship and spent a week in jail. Nothing happened to her except that no one wanted to be her and she lost all of her friends. No apology, no major punishment. So this whole thing seems very suspicious to me.

It's really hard to listen to people talking about situations like this when they don't ever acknowledge how dangerous and terrifying it is to make an accusation like this in the first place. Most victims don't speak up at all for that very reason, much less putting their names and faces out into the world for everyone to see and for your abuser to also see. I am still afraid of the people who hurt me in my life, and I still take actions in my daily life to avoid them getting mad at me, because I just fear them so much.
@garycannon28872 жыл бұрын
The thing is the 17 year old he publicly dated hasn’t made any allegations. It was another ex that wanted to stay anonymous highlighted that early relationship to smear him as a pedophile.
@Ajlez2 жыл бұрын
@@garycannon2887 The thing is if they're wrong, so what? If I had people calling me a pedophile and I wasn't, I wouldn't care that much because I would know it wasn't true. False accusers hurt real victims and they have absolutely nothing to do with real victims. I don't know if it's true that Rachel has said nothing and that doesn't really matter either (I thought she did say stuff on her own in the past against him but I'm no expert on this matter and I don't feel the need to fact check), she doesn't have to but it's also out in the open making it something people can say without having to share their own intimate details. In my opinion, the poster of that thread is probably still quite young and not highly intelligent. I usually find that women are more apt to realize the difference in an age gap than men are. When you get older, you realize that the person who acted like you were special and who seemed so mature is actually extremely immature, or they wouldn't be spending time with you. 🤷♀ If he was only in his early 20's in this one example, I still think he was quite young and stupid himself, but I haven't seen any indication that he changed his mind on dating young women either. The statements I saw made about this all sounded very realistic, I've heard many things like that in my personal life, and that's why they seem very human and real to me.
@garycannon28872 жыл бұрын
@@Ajlez victims of false allegations are real victims too. You clearly have no idea the effects false allegations have on ruining peoples lives. Like you seriously wouldn't have a problem with everyone you know distancing themselves from you, ruining your living, and putting you at risk of verbal and physical assault from ignorant individuals any time you leave the house? The Problem in this situation is the genuine issues with his behaviour were completely overshadowed by the extreme and blatantly false allegations that were contradicted by the hit piece letter itself and the attached screenshots. It should be obvious that just because you feel hurt by someone because they expected you to cook and clean or ghosted you doesn't make it okay to smear them as a dangerous grooming pedophile and abuser to hurt them back.
@Ajlez2 жыл бұрын
@@garycannon2887 So you believe he ghosted and expected cooking and cleaning, but you don't believe the sexual abuse. I really don't think this is a good or useful way to "get someone back" and I don't believe that was the inclination (especially considering this is probably years late), of course I could be wrong, but if they just wanted to smear someone they could do it in a way that doesn't make people look down on theme in the process, and they didn't do that. Women don't usually want to talk about men they're with having erectile dysfunction, for example. What it looks like to me is it took them time to process before being able to admit how wrong what they went through was. That's my read, maybe it's wrong, don't care. And for the record, no, I have had much worse problems than people making false accusations against me, so to me that's really a non-issue. Go ahead and do it to me if you want to try and prove me wrong. Fearing the people in your own house is a lot more common and a bigger concern than fearing strangers. I'm more worried about people in that situation than guys catching flak from weak girls who can't do much at all to them.
@garycannon28872 жыл бұрын
@@Ajlez i dont recall them discussing sexual abuse other than him making sexual comments. And with the way they exaggerated paying for work to be financial abuse and that he admitted to hitting a girl once when he was younger into him having a pattern of physically abusing women, it would be hard to take their word for it. With cooking and cleaning and him only buying microwave meals and having porn addiction, it doesnt matter if it's true or not as when that is their experience of abuse it just seems petty after they smeared him as a grooming pedophile abuser. The ghosting thing there is actual evidence of, but again with the exaggerated allegations that were made it didn't matter so much if it was true or not
