The good news is, Prime Video releasing it weekly allows NR to be able to cover it with this aftershow. The Netflix all-at-once model is good for those who like to binge-watch, but terrible for channels like ours, because it makes it nearly impossible to produce recap videos at a pace that keeps up with the speed people watch it. Rather than several videos that analyze and theorize episode by episode each week, we'd have to dump it all in one full season recap video, and by then it usually isn't worth it. It's not as fun! I personally like being able to digest each episode before I see the next. I have time to think about it and even re-watch it to find anything I may have missed. I was surprised the first three episodes were released at once, as I was not expecting that. It was a nice surprise, and yes I binge watched them, but I like being able to look forward to the next episode instead of sitting there after the entire thing and thinking, "ok, now what." Plus, I get to watch your take an each episode, which also helps as I prepare for the next episode.

I saw the reference to the hugging skeletons to be moreso a comment on how Hughie and Starlight's relationship (which we were just watching in the previous scene) is mostly born and furthered by the extreme circumstances that they're in. If you're about to die, you'll hug anyone you can. Similarly, if you're in a world full of corrupted and cowardly people, you'll connect with anyone with morals.

I don't know if this was mentioned (I stopped the video half way through to prevent hearing potential spoilers) but I think this episode gave us a hint at Black Noir's mental state. The way he wrote "Butcher" on that piece of paper was very sloppy and appeared to reveal a child-like or unhinged mind which is in interesting contrast to how classically trained he has been depicted (tea ceremonies, playing piano). Also I think the reason Homelander killed Doppleganger has to do with him feeling pathetic, something he was called by Stormfront earlier in the episode. Good call on Stormfront being Liberty and ageless but I think the whole Vought mind switching bodies is a huuuuge stretch.

I like that they started diverging right away in Season 1. It sets the expectation that they won't be mirroring the plot points of the source material like GoT did. And so far, I've been enjoying the show the same amount as -- sometimes more than -- the comics.

As far as it going down a Game Of Thrones route, I think it's important to acknowledge that, unlike Song of Ice and Fire being seen as a great series, the comics aren't exactly revolutionary. A lot of it felt like just trying to be edgy, so I personally think the show's direction of edge mixed with emotions outside of despair is really good. There's a reason no one had an outcry about Stormfront being unrecognizable or Butcher not having powers. It's because the changes are, thus far, making an arguably better story than before. All my opinions, of course

Excellent breakdown and for someone who hasn't read the comics, Maria hit the nail on the head with her description of Homelander's last kill. There are a few points, where Homelander crosses these very disturbing lines as he descends into full-on insanity. You guys didn't mention the second less direct reference to Taxi Driver- Kimiko watching Stormfront from behind a crowd. Stormfront is vile, to a gruesome degree, but her ties to WW2 make her like Thor, and perhaps like in the comics, frozen like Cap. If she's with Vaught, I think she' shows very clearly what Homelander has the potential to become, maybe even being the one behind the coup- Tired of Vaught being in control, much like Homelander. It's even hinted at in the costume they gave her for her this origin. However, I think that's also wrapped into something bigger that will also drag in The Boys and perhaps bring the show as close to where the comics were, as far as where the Boys started when we met them. While the female is a mystery in the comics, I really like the amount of character they've been able to give her with such little dialog.
