I know you say that your covers are very direct, but in this case, I feel that that is half-right...because this sounds very bluesy! And of course, the original is very bluesy, but is also very electric. So I guess I would say that the original was half blues rock, half arena rock, and this sounds like the blues half of it, if that makes sense!

Blues is in the DNA of so much 20th century popular music, but at the same time an accordion can only take _electric_ blues, or blues-rock, only so far. Often with such guitar-centric songs I omit the solos entirely (because it doesn't matter how well I do them, they will compare unfavorably) but I found the ones in this song iconic and achievable so I put in the work anyway. There is a chapter in my radio colleague's accordion history book about how the blues actually extinguished a Black American button accordion tradition ("why did Led Belly play accordion?") whose thread doesn't get picked up again until zydeco starts reaching wider audiences in the 60s, but I digress. A history of music winds up being a history of culture and society, which winds up being a history of everything. It's all connected, and often in unexpected and complicated ways!
