They didn’t just play a team, they became one. Take a look at how director George Clooney guided the cast of his upcoming film The Boys in the Boat as they learned to row. As one.
See the film, only in theaters this Christmas.

Hasbro needs to cast Callum Turner as Duke if they make another G.I Joe movie. I think he would be the best choice for the character.

Absolutely CANNOT WAIT for this movie. My son is a high school rower and this sport has changed his life. The motivation, the teamwork, the dedication it takes - It's a lesson sorely needed in modern America - Scott Forbes

Also had an early screening yesterday with my rowing team, very good, but probably not Oscar worthy unless it's costume design.

As an ex-college oarsman you are right on target, Scott. Encourage your son in this sport. Adversity builds character. Rowing workouts began the day following registration in September and continued daily except for Sundays until the season-ending regatta, the IRA, in Syracuse. Most of us worked out, ran, etc., for the entire summer as well. Check out the calluses on your son's hands.

Has he read the book? As someone who rowed in high school, I was TREMENDOUSLY impacted by the book while I was actively rowing.

Absolutely wonderful movie. I was on the verge of my emotions spilling over throughout the entire movie. As a former university rower, I watched with rapt attention and was transported back 30+ years. I competed in a lot of different sports growing up, and my time rowing was my absolute favorite. This movie did the sport more than justice.

OMG just saw this and thought it was so well done and well acted. Couldn't take my eyes off of Jack Mulhern so I went back a googled his earlier work. He got in such great shape for this film, it's shocking. It's worth seeing the film just to watch Jack (I'd never heard of him before)

My daughter was a high school rower. The work ethic and mental toughness it teaches is actually hard to come by any other way in life except really difficult circumstances in which one has to strive to keep up or just plain work hard.

I so loved this movie. There are so few movies that are as great as the book. This movie is every bit as wonderful as the book. I was on the edge of my seat during the races even though I've read the book several times. Well done Mr. Clooney! Thank you!!!!❤🌬🕊

It's gonna be really tough for this movie to trump the great documentary "The Boys of '36". I am a former college oarsman and that movie tells the rowing story so very well including the qualities of Washington's Coach Ulbrickson. He was so typical of coaching back then. Our crew coach must have modeled Ulbrickson. There is sufficient adversity just being a college oarsman without that old-timey coaching style. And no fancy shirts on that Washington crew for the Olympic race.

Not only is it a great rowing tale, it’s a superb account of the effects of the depression. However it is just a really well told story. It’s a bonus that the story is true.

You MUST! Per usual, the movie cannot capture the book - particularly in this case, where George Pocock's wisdom's cannot be captured. Plus the girls were made silly, and storylines were changed to make the movie eg Joe's gal was a REALLY hard worker herself; they BOTH managed thru much in their young college lives, that REALLY helps you know who they are, and CARE much more about the outcomes. READ IT - you won't be sorry - it may even become one of your favorite books of your life. Disclosure: my daughter's a high school rower at Greenlake (started by 5 of the 8 boys), and I have my own involvements with UW crew in the 80s, but I say this as a lifetime reader: the richness of this book cannot be captured in 2 +/- hrs, no matter who produces/directs it (fyi we love George, and the movie is good!)

@@ballagh yet the movie is not quite, but "BASED" on the book. To my mind, the movie swapped personalities of Joe and his gal - she came off with a 'modern' aggressiveness, while he was taciturn. In the book, he carried a guitar around he sang/played with, for goodness sakes!

I found the movie a little disappointing, even allowing for how it can’t match the depth of the book, which I love. But the rowing scenes are outstanding.

Ok….if you yet to read the book then you will find the movie very good….if you read the book first, then the movie is a bit of a let down. The acting was fine but the story line with the main character lacked a bit but the rowing scenes were good. Read the book…..WAY BETTER
