Broadway Joe thinking Mike and Carol were taking Bobby's supposed inevitable death lightly is a rare instance of dark humor on the Brady Bunch. Classic episode! 🏈

I cried the first time I saw this, despite the " laugh track " in the background. Can't really explain why. I'm about the same age as those kids, who would now be well into their fifties. When I was a child, I had a similar experience with my beloved Los Angeles Lakers, when I got to go into the locker room before a game and meet Jerry West and Gail Goodrich. And, well, I guess I was reminded of a simpler, more innocent time.

In "Growing Up Brady: I Was a Teenage Greg", Barry Williams wrote that during one take of the driveway scene where Joe is saying goodbye to the Bradys, Florence Henderson (who was nuts about Joe) flung herself into Joe's arms. She pleaded, "Take me with you, Joe! I can't stand this family!" Joe, staying in character, replied, "Sure, Mrs. Brady." and carried her down the driveway.

When Bobby's friends were bragging about their fathers having met superstars, when they asked him if he knew anyone, he could have told them that Don Drysdale was once at their house, and that his father designed the house that he was probably still living in. His friends who were bragging obviously never met any of those superstars themselves, which meant that Bobby was one up on them. At least he would have been telling the truth.

I honestly think this was really Joe's personality, he seemed like a genuinely cool guy and would probably say the same thing and react the same way in real life, if some stupid kid pretended to be sick to meet him, he'd laugh about it, and say exactly the same thing, it's mighty flattering having someone wanting to see me as badly as you wanted to.

I heard that during the filming of this episode, Robert Reed encouraged Joe to do the pantyhose ad. Reed wore them all the time at home ... 😂

Damn,Mike Lookinland gets to catch a pass from Broadway Joe.They should have reinacted this on Letterman when Joe threw a pass to Alex Baldwin outside the studio.Mike could have been a suprise guest,it would have gone over well.
