The more I listen to each verse the more I want to cry. It’s incredible how each car was given character, a personality, and insecurities - all within a song verse. And to think the scene was almost cut!

“I beg your pardon it’s quite hard enough just living with the stuff I have learned” This is characterization 101, despite having an on screen appearance of 10 seconds, we humanize, learn to care for, relate to, and ultimately mourn this character despite being sharing next to no screen time.

Throwing my hat in the theory ring Blue Sedan Work car that broke down Pinkish Convertible: Used in street racing and the like, broke dowj due to the fact that her owner pushed her to the edge. Red Muscle Car (looks vaguely like a thunderbird): Owner was a drifter who did odd jobs on route 66 to sustain the free lifestyle. Eventually things went south, his way of life as route 66 began to die and he could barely afford to keep his car operational. In an act of desperation he sold his car for scrap to afford a few nights room and board. Indy Racer: In relatively good condition (externally) probably almost won but got 2nd or 3rd causing the owner to sell it. Became a museum or collectors piece that got less and less attention until finally it was scrapped. Limo: Groom comitted suicide Hearse: Drove the Groom's corpse Woody: Fellini was an Italian director who made what can best be termed very artistic smut, often with homoerotic themes. Most likely the surfer contracted aids at a party on Zuma Beach. He went back to his parents in desperation (Yuma Arizona being stressed in minor key and having no ocean) who he tried to distance himself from. His parents disowned him and the surfer committed suicide by crashing into the Pacific. The bite mark is from sharks after the crash. Green Pickup: Owned by an old hopi man who was once loved and respected by his family. However as time went on he ans the culture he represented began to be shunted off more and more until he died alone reminiscing about when his family still cared about him. One of his kids got the car and promptly abandonned it.

I thought the woody one Well, it's about a woman who was surfing in.Got her arm bit off by a shark who late committed because of a deep depression. The bite mark is where her arm would have been.

My theory has been: Pink Convertible was gifted to a kid from a parent who bought that car new and when it broke down from something minor, like a battery or starter, got a new car. Indy Racer, was close to winning its last race when the car crashed, which is why it's missing a wheel Limo: Texan groom left his bride at the altar, got into a wreck on the way home and died Hearse: Delivered the Texan to the graveyard. These are the only two cars who sing about the same person Woody: Fellini died in a shark attack while surfing. The board was recovered and put onto the top of the Woody, but no one claimed the vehicle and it ended up in the junkyard. Super Dark Theory: Except for the hearse, all the cars ended up scrapped after their drivers died: Blue car: damaged grill, driver died in a car crash Pink Convertible: Abandoned after the driver was murdered Indy Racer: crashed near the end of a race killing the driver Limo and Woody: already discussed Pickup Truck: Owned by an old man who died and grandkids scrapped it seeing it was "Grandpa's worthless truck".

The line in the film is "There were bikinis and buns, there were weenies, Fellini just couldn't forget", but they tried to censor it in the soundtrack by making the lyric "There were 'kinis and hotdogs and weenies, Fellini just couldn't forget." But instead of taking the original line out, they just overlaid it with the new line, and thus you get the weird effect there.

God this... THIS SONG... I mean, its a JUNKYARD, basically a graveyard for cars and appliances All the cars sing about their life before their demise Some of the cars, like the convertible and red sports car seem to be desperately trying to still try and live. I mean, the sports car is trying to turn its steering wheel to no avail, and the convertible literally says "I just cant seem to get started!" while seemingly trying to drive away and the green pickup truck... it drives onto the conveyor belt by itself. It just commits literal CAR SUICIDE. Not only that, all the cars here can see other cars get picked up and sent to their doom, probably knowing one day, it'll be their turn as well, which makes this more sad and disturbing then it needs to be. And i dont know why, i feel like the hearse and texan limousine knew eachother? i dont know why, i almost had a feeling that after they did what they sing about, they ended up crashing into eachother, which is why theyre put together in this song or its a thing about how all good things must come to an end, with the marriage ending in a funeral... or something ... MEANWHILE THE MOST GROOVY SONG IS PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND FOR JUST... NO REASON APART TO BE GROOVY??? ... god i love this movie.
@finleyforevermore3 ай бұрын
I've heard a pretty tragic headcanon that the man who drove the limousine got cold feet on his wedding day and ended up committing suicide, and the hearse drove the same man's coffin during his funeral.
