You know, as someone who never liked log flumes and by extension the original Splash Mountain, I think the biggest casualty of the retheme is the name. "Splash Mountain" was a catchy name and posited the ride as a pillar among the signature Disney "mountains," Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, you could count the Matterhorn and Expedition Everest. Heck, the name had absolutely nothing to do with Song of the South, it was named that as a clumsy attempt to cross-promote Splash. If they named the ride "Splash Mountain: Tiana's Adventure" or something like that, it'd probably piss fewer detractors off (of course not all of them), it'd just be considered a questionable retheme instead of bulldozing a tentpole ride outright. That said I do question the safety of the swamp water. It makes sense, but it's not encouraging to think of getting sprayed by it in the splash.
@ReddOchober6 ай бұрын
It likely is not the “water” you will splash into. Disney does have a way to color the water; they do this with jungle cruise. It is not actually swamp water.
@The_AGL_Group6 ай бұрын
@@ReddOchober Of course, I know they're not actively going to spray guests with hazardous water, just that the visual isn't an enticing prospect, especially if the coloring ends up staining clothes.

While the things that benefit Disneyland rarely benefit the surrounding community, I think that the acqiusition of Magic Way will be a net benefit for nearby residents, since it will practically eliminate Disneyland traffic from Walnut Street. Those heading to and from the Disneyland Resort will no longer be able to take a shortcut via Walnut Street and Magic Way, resulting in a calming effect in the neighborhood.

It’s about time Disneyland expands and buys property to facilitate that expansion.. one person saving 15 minutes from his house to the freeway is laughable. Whatever Disney does to add parks and beautify the area, will be a win win for locals and tourists. The streets around Disneyland lined with palm trees and lighting are absolutely beautiful. One thing Disney knows, is how to do landscaping. Now if they would drop the reservation system and virtual ques and let the Park breathe on its own again.

I would be interested in what they actually plan to use Magic Way for. Even if not a lot of it is through traffic, it's not exactly arguable that lots of cars go down that Way. (Wakka Wakka) So are they planning on making Magic Way a direct route to parking and seal off the other end? It's going to impact the flow of traffic any way you slice it for the main thoroughfare and I don't know how. I'd be interested to know more about what studies, preferably by Industrial Engineers, have been done on that subject if I lived in the area... Actually, I'm kinda interested in that now.

Magic way is hardly used by anyone not going or coming from the Disney resort. And I highly doubt 15 minutes are added to this guy’s route. Walnut is not heavily used and from walnut/ball to Disneyland drive/ball (where his shortcut would meet up) is a quarter of a mile

If I can critique something I've noticed: For Tom; By the number of times you've said "I'm going to date myself here", or "kids look it up", or you start explaining something that's a little older in the parks for the "young folk", I honestly thought you were much older than me, maybe late 40s, or early 50s. However, you're only a few YEARS older than me. Yes we're older and in our 30s, but we're not too far removed from the teens and young adults. I'm not sure if it's because of the age of the people you work with (I don't pretend to know their ages), or because you're a history nerd like me. Personally those phrases are getting a bit, well, old. Again, I really do enjoy the content you make, and wish you the best.

While Tom is bothered by Runaway Railway replacing The Great Movie Ride at Hollywood Studios, the one that bothers me the most is The Little Mermaid at California Adventure. I think The Little Mermaid belongs in Disneyland Park, next to the submarine lagoon. It just seems a bit weird to have a Disney Princess dark ride in a non-castle park, when everything else in DCA is mostly Pixar and Avengers. I would move Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters to DCA (replacing Goofy's Sky School), change Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta to Pizza Planet, and convert the Silly Symphony Swings to Up, Up and Away! I'd build a Big Hero 6 ride inside the former Little Mermaid showbuilding, retheming the exterior to match San Fransokyo. 😊
