I flew from Sydney back to the UK in one of these in 1964. Then UK to Singapore in 65 and back in 68.

I was lucky enough to fly in this absolutely fantastic aircraft on 6 separate occasions in 1960 and 1961 whilst my father served as an RAF pilot/navigator with 57 Squadron on Twin Pioneers in Aden South Yemen. The flights were via Rome and Khartoum and they must have been weight critical as all the passengers were weighed at each stop. I have all my flights carefully documented in my BOAC Junior Jet Club log book which I treasure to this day. Many happy memories.

I flew to Hong Kong in a British Eagle Britannia in 1961 calling at Istanbul, Bombay and Bangkok. I think it took 27 hours and I didn't sleep a wink all the way.

@@brianweatherley1437 It was called the Whispering Giant as it was comparatively quiet to any other passenger aircraft. I was a Stewardess on The Britannia with British Eagle...wonderful days.

It was so smooth. I was in the RAf an flew a few times on one. I actually fell in love with this type when I used to watch aircraft in the mid 60's at Liverpool Speke airport. British Eagle flew them out of there so leased versions used to come there and once you had seen and heard one you were hooked. It got the name Whispering Giant for a reason and if you saw one live you would understand why.
