The Poison Garden at the Alnwick Garden in Northumberland, England is one of the deadliest gardens in the world. It features around 100 toxic, intoxicating, and narcotic plants. Visitors require a safety briefing before entering and gardeners must wear full-body protective clothing.
It may seem alarming, but many of the plants can be found in ordinary gardens, with people completely unaware of their poisonous potential. However, in many cases these deadly plants can also have life-saving qualities too, so truly understanding their potential to both harm and to cure is vitally important.

It just goes to show how ridiculous the law is when you've got some of the deadliest plants on Earth, just hanging out in the open, yet *cannabis* is treated like it's made of ebola crossed with small pox. Mental

Idk if I'd touch the cannabis tbh. That soil is probably toxic as hell when it rains the toxins from other plants would just soak into it. So yes they have it locked up for a reason because if a pothead walked through there you know for a fact there pinching some lol

@@Kenan-Z Then I guess we should also lock cars and beer behind cages. Pretty much anything can be dangerous when abused. When it comes to intoxicants cannabis is among the least dangerous.

@@user255 No kidding. Some people react badly to shellfish, peanuts, and strawberries. According to Karen's....I mean Kenan's logic I suppose we should outlaw them too. Thankfully I live in the US where individual states are starting to legalize it, but the Federal Government still hasn't legalized it-- consequently individual state dispensaries have banking issues due to Federal regulation of financial institutions.

@@nateb118 Yeah, it should be legal like in many countries already. However I'm not so sure about the candy like edibles. At least they should be sold only in packages with child proof lids etc. Like all(?) intoxicants they can actually be dangerous to children.

England is a significant producer of medical cannabis. In 2021, the UK produced 329 tonnes of cannabis for medical and scientific purposes, which was more than half of the reported world total, It also exported 213 tonnes of cannabis for these purposes. This makes the UK one of the largest suppliers of medical cannabis in the world

Have the poisons been genetically removed from any of these plants because ,if or mistaken, rhododendron or a similar flowering bush is in bloom all over North East United States. My mom had a huge bush with huge blue bunches of flowers with huge honeybees hiding inside of them. Most very likely, I have the wrong name to that plant but wondering if poisonous agents can be or have been removed? Very interesting! Thank you 🥰

No. They would have to be breed specifically to get rid of the poison. Some of them may have been but I have no idea which ones they are. Oleander is another one that grows in the US. It too is deadly. Our yard had lots when we bought the house and the first thing we did was remove them. People have died from cutting a branch and using it to roast a hotdog. Not worth the risk.

No, in fact, if you chewed and ate them, you may in fact have died at that point. An incredible amount of plants just growing next to you somewhere in Europe are incredibly poisonous. However, they have adapted just as animals around us adapted so most of them do not even try to nibble them. And those that do end with an early demise in the wild.

Hello! Alnwick castle is a building site at the moment! It's not worth visiting at the moment! An entrance fee of 20 Pounds and the missing permission of taking photos in the inside are two more reasons not to visit this place! ;-) Greetings Renate and Olaf #Trackbreaker

🌸 so you have never come across mad honey Remember the Roman soliders were defeated by Persians because the notice the poisonous honey and collected it into pots The Romans greedily ate this delicious honey, some started to vomit or diarrhoea, while the rest suffered with hallucinations If a lot was ingested it would have poisoned them instantly. The Persians took opportunity to attack and defeated the Romans The effects wear off after 24hrs, but like I said if too much is ingested then you don’t wake up There are other incidents in ancient history about this, read about it for yourself 😊

Because people enjoy chemicals and will always want to do them. People also enjoy having power over others. There is power in condemning and controlling something people desire.
