The Broken Meeple - Potion Explosion: The Fifth Ingredient Review

Already a hit on my Top 100, but now we have an expansion for Potion Explosion. It all seems solid enough, but perhaps was I expecting more? Should most of this have already been a base game addition given its simplicity?

For the base game, I houseruled the potions display by putting them all in a large cloth bag and drawing 5 at a time to be revealed Ticket to Ride style, replacing immediately. Any potions drawn that match the 2 we aren't playing with are just discarded to the box. I find that the convenience of setup and tear down from this overrides the niche case where you run out of a potion stack or two from creating 'roughly equal' stacks to draw from. Beyond that I only sort the beginner potions from the rest of the group as part of tear down to make setting up the next play easier.

I think I might like the "silly" professor. I've played with someone who always, without fail, manages to knock marbles everywhere and it always messes with game play and we end up having to reshuffle the marbles. We joke that he's going to have to wear a cone of shame like the one in Exploding Kittens if he does it again but the negative points will work great too!

I always bag or bead box things....so no issues for me. I also don't mind the occasional silliness. It's just a game.
