Luke, my man. Took me a while to come around to your style of review but over the past many months I keep coming back to this channel over and over again. Thanks dude, I really appreciate your efforts.

You must be prescient. My wife and I just learned and played it over the weekend. Loved it. We're planning on playing at least twice more this week, so it's still set up on the dinning room table.

Ordered it in October. I keep getting told postage at the end of December. Meaning after Christmas. So I’m thinking January if I’m lucky.

Thanks again Luke. Have seen a few play through of this... again not sure if it’s for me or not. I think it’s pronounced something like Tee o Tay whack an. But I am probably wrong.

Are you sure you played your 2-3p correctly? At 13:56 you said that the 2p experience was nicer but rules wise you should add 6 dice around the board (3x the colours you don't use) when playing with 2p. With 3p, you add the 4th player colour to random spots.
@sad0happy5 жыл бұрын
So essentially, the number of dice doesn't really differ no matter how many players, other than the potential 4th dice from each human player that they might get. :)
@TheBrokenMeeple5 жыл бұрын
But the neutral dice are easier to predict and the neutral AI isn't out to screw you over.
@sad0happy5 жыл бұрын
@@TheBrokenMeeple Yes, just making sure you played correctly! :) I actually preferred the 4p due to this. In our game the lumberyard got stacked hard when the next 1-3 spots were spots that weren't used so much. Before the end I was last with huge difference to others but I concentrated on all 3 temple tracks and got 57VP from those, I got all three to the top or the penultimate step and WON the game.

no “three is the sweet spot” this time? :) joking apart, thank you for such a detailed review. you convinced me to order Teotihuacan, a game which was not at all in my radar.

I really liked the game, played twice now but one minus is that there's a lot to keep track off. We once had a turn where a player got 3+3+4+1VP + 1 cocoa and then the die ascended, he rose on two tracks getting x VP + resources etc.

I sold Tzolkin. Going to get this in a trade.
@TheLuminousCleric Жыл бұрын
Oh my god! It is one of the best games I have ever played. Way better than Tzolkin. Only thing - It is a bit heavy on the upkeep, it is easy to miss triggers in this.

When I visited the site in Mexico (about 20 years ago) this is almost exactly how locals pronounced it, except it sounded more like, "wah kan," with the "h" sound held back in the throat. Unforgettable place. Not sure this game does it justice. Anxious to play and see.

I just sold my copy today. I'm an eurogamer and I love tzolk'in for example, but this fell flat to me. You didn't have any problem with remembering everything there is to remember? I found this game to be a bookkeeping nightmare. Tons of small things you have to remember every turn, which made me lose interest so fast. Sadly. There are cool things, but those don't outweigh the negatives for me.
@simonvillar95236 жыл бұрын
Hi! The "h" in the name is not pronounced at all, and the "e" it's pronounced like an spanish "e" not english.
@TheLuminousCleric2 жыл бұрын
Isnt it a bit too fiddly? I see that as a con. There is a lot to keep track of, and move around.
@TheBrokenMeeple2 жыл бұрын
There is, and honestly it has gone down a point in my rating since for the content in that box with the expansions - it's a tricky one to get back to the table. Hell in fact, the whole T series as a whole suffers from this.

Typical rant by a resident of a former colonial Empire... that’s so lazy!!! A little bit of cultural and historical curiosity do no harm, by the way. Other than that, I really appreciate your reviews. You go through many interesting points to consider by potential buyers/players of the game. In the already overcrowded board games video reviews market, you really shine.
