"And when I do exhale you, is when I find myself." - My favorite line in this one. ❤️ I LOVE how many of your songs in this album refer to breathing a person, as if they are essential air or something much more precious than air - maybe an addiction, or maybe something you simply can't live without. The metaphor carries through the entire album - as much as "I'd choke fire just to breathe you in," or "I feel it in my lungs every time I wish to breathe you, like I'm going up in flames just beneath you," - it's clear that no matter how desperately we long to breathe that person's air, we've come to understand in the hardest way possible that they are actually poison for us. The lesson learned late is that the relationship is toxic, and that in order to mend we must walk away from it. No easy feat, when there is still so much love, but it's only when we can intentionally "leave love out of it" that we can begin heal and truly say we're "on the mend." I also love that ON the mend does not equate to "healed." There is a process, sometimes a lengthier one than others, and this album feels like it captures that experience so perfectly. Yes, "I'm on the mend," but the memories are fresh, the wounds are still bleeding, and the emotions fluctuate from nostalgia to anger to grief and more. It's masterfully written. Thank you for this amazing album, and everything it's doing to help those of us at any point in the journey of healing. Whether it's giving up enough to see the faults in a relationship, gathering the courage to just walk away, finding the resolution to be unconcerned while trying to move forward, grieving and learning how to mend, you've given us the music so, even lonely, we don't have to feel alone in our thoughts and emotions, and that is a priceless gift.

You young men are beautiful, you have left me breathless, dark and cold, and/or with that chill down the spine, like when you hear certain sounds that move you for reasons too hard to explain. I'm an old-school guy at 51, I was age 15 in 1985, so you guys are like kids to me. Music was very diffrerent then, synths were making new noises and effects...electronic was off the chains EVERYWHERE, it was mostly happy and sunny content...music hadn't darkened as much yet. Things weren't worded so explicitly and there were certain things you just didnt allude to, mention, or broadcast about. So now I look today, and your music is magic, as are each of you and the forces that brought y'all together, and to all us fans. When I see pure, clear talent, I always think to myself "they're too young to know about these things", as was I, way too early, which wasnt as normal as it is now. I say prayers for you, and hope the best for you, you're good as gold, and I hope you stay hearty and healthy, and keep on doin what your heart says. Win or lose, that's what's gonna happen anyway.
