During the Second World War alongside Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini formed the Axis Alliance bringing together Italy and Nazi Germany fighting alongside each other. Benito Mussolini and Hitler were very close friends and they were hated by the Allies. Mussolini rose to power over a decade before Hitler did following his March on Rome, and he then became the Dictator of Italy following being appointed the Prime Minister. But before this, Mussolini had been involved in Fascist politics and underground movements, but he also had a very dark secret which could have brought his political career crashing down.
Whilst living in Milan before the First World War broke out, Mussolini met Ida Dalser a young Salon owner inside of the thriving city. Dalser's beauty business was promising, but when she met Mussolini she fell for him and within a year the couple were married. Ida Dalser was Mussolini's first wife and she even sold her business to fund her husband's enterprise and work in creating a Fascist newspaper. She made many sacrifices for her husband, but it was known that he at the time had a mistress. A year after marrying Dalser, Mussolini married another woman which technically made him a bigamist as he was not divorced to his first wife. Dalser was with child too, and she gave birth to a son named Benito Albino Mussolini after his father. When Mussolini came into power in Italy in 1922, Dalser tried to speak out about her husband. He had not paid any child support, and as Dictator he kept his first wife and son under close surveillance.
Ida Dalser continued to speak out and maintain that she was 'The True Wife of the Dictator,' and she accused Mussolini of taking bribes from France which was dangerous and would have made him a traitor. If the public found out he was a deadbeat father and a bigamist, this would have ruined his political career. But Ida Dalser died under very bizarre and suspicious circumstances. She had been arrested and seized by the Italian Secret police who beat her and also forced her into a straitjacket. She was committed to an asylum, but her death occurred inside of this institution but it is rather suspicious. It was said she died of a 'brain haemorrhage' but Mussolini did have the motive to have her killed due to her being vocal against him. Dalser and Mussolini's son was also incarcerated in a similar way and was killed also by either a lethal injection, or by electric shock therapy. This is bizarre, and it could be alleged that Mussolini had involvement in the deaths of his first wife and son.

The Italians made a film about this 10-15 years ago. I think it was called "Vincere". She died in an insane asylum and the boy died a few years later as well. Him abandoning his first wife wasn't unusual. No divorce possible in those days. What is really amazing is that he abandoned his son named after him.

It is very strange that the narrator consistently says "inside " instead of "in", for example "he lived inside Italy". Is this a dialect?

What an awful story and more to be irritated with in regard to my genetic heritage as I am half Roman. When I was very young it was whispered that my grandmother on the Italian side(my dad's), was a seamstress for one of Mussolini's mistresses'. True story...

Well you are almost correct, the one a short time ago I believe was about his son by this woman so I feel that the subject matter was a bit redundant. However, considering how he slept around he may have had other children. In Italy at the time paying child support for an illegitimate child was virtually unheard of. An interesting note is that Dr. Maria Montessori the first woman in Italy to receive a medical degree was quite instrumental in bringing this issue to light and helped change things. As a young woman Dr. Montessori was attractive and very stylish who for the time held what was considered progressive views i.e. progressive education. What is less known to most people was that she was a devout Catholic who never envisioned what goes on in so-called Montessori schools today, but maybe that's a subject for something that doesn't appear to be a rehash of a video just done.

I thought the same thing, but the one a short time ago was about the son by this woman. However, considering how he slept around he may have had other illegitimate children. The paying of child support for children like this was almost unheard of at the time in Italy, but mistresses were common. The person who brought this to the public's attention and was able to bring about reforms was Dr. Maria Montessori the first woman in Italy to receive a medical degree. As a young woman she was attractive and very stylish, but held progressive views for the day, i.e. progressive education. What is much less known about her was that she was a devout Catholic who never envisioned what goes on today in so-called Montessori schools, but perhaps that's for another video or at least one that's not a rehash of an earlier one.
