Colonel Muammar Gaddafi ruled over Libya from 1969 to 2011, and he managed to overthrow the Libyan King. He would oversee a regime which was rather oppressive and would tackle political dissenters and revolutionaries with brutality. He was linked to a number of world-wide terrorist attacks including the Lockerbie Bombing in which a plan exploded over a Scottish village. But Gaddafi would later fall from grace in a shocking and brutal overthrow that resulted in his execution. In 2011 there was a huge amount of protests in Libya against him, and then armed resistance fought against Gaddafi loyalists. The protesters took large amounts of territory, and then Gaddafi went on the run.
He was on a convoy that was attacked by NATO missiles, and then as he was trying to flee he was injured by either a grenade or by enemy fire. But then Gaddafi was captured and the events of his death are rather debated, but he sustained gunshot wounds during this and it's believed he was executed by the militants. There was not an execution order issued for him, however his death was incredibly brutal and after his remains were placed on public display.

Where are free schools, free roads, free hospitals and he said his fTher would be the last person who had a state house. Couples were given 50,000 when married, he is the only middlle-easten African to this date to pump fresh water through the desert. He may of been a mad man but he looked after his people.

The americans also had a role in killing him, he wanted to not trade oil for dollars which really upset them. This would have made their currency much less valuable. They actually had the main role in deposing him of his power. The US was the most involved in this war.

@@nobs997 Africa is 5 times larger than the United States with many individual countries, individual leadership. Most people can't even fathom the task or consider Africa in their history books with the exception of Egypt and South Africa. @@nobs997 there are hidden reasons the US has when doing something like this, not just that he was a dictator, they are backing other dictators while they try to tell everyone how democratic they are themselves. I think teddy roosvelt said this in regards to cuba's leader during his time:"son of a bitch, but our son of a bitch". You can look at today's regimes in saudi arabia and israel, Ukraine to see that I am right. Except for the thing with dollars I talked about another reason for which they did what they did was the immigration wave that followedto europe, while gadaffi was in power wesee practicallyno immigration, but when he died people on lifeboats started crossing the medditeranean.

Its strange that West didn't call him dictator, until the point he wanted to make African union. Or maybe he wanted to free Africa from modern colonisation. Maybe a former French president could give us insight, since France owed a couple of billions.

everything was fine, the west was letting him off like that of the Kims, but the moment he tried to make a PanAfrican Union with its own currency back by gold, thats when the west started to act, they were afraid since the PanAfrican union would dwarf the Dollar. And the result, a broken country with its economy barely floating.

Libya under Gaddafi was not entirely hellish as the world has been made to believe. The citizens did not have the luxury of voting but Gaddafi made sure they had a high standard of living to compensate for curtailed freedoms. Was this enough? That is a moot point but the fact remains: Libya was a great place to stay under Gaddafi (provided one did not try to usurp power). Education and medical treatment were free Under Gaddafi, education and health care were free for all. A response to this claim by Masareef Edareeya, a Libyan citizen claimed the quality of education and health was appalling but that does nothing to the fact that it was free. No system is perfect but most are imperfect and still expensive. Gaddafi made sure his system was subsidised and even Mercy Corps attested to the fact in its Beyond Gaddafi: Libya’s Governance Context. That is more than the so-called “democratic leaders” can say for their countries. Newlyweds received U.S $50,000 from the government Gaddafi’s government had legislation providing for a grant to newlyweds to buy their first apartment so as to help start a family. Claims are that the process was tedious and bureaucratic to the extent that not many people bothered to follow it through but the $50,000 was there if one followed through. Again Mercy Corps confirmed Gaddafi provided housing for newlyweds. Criticising the grant on grounds of tedious processes is a vindictive trial at attacking every good Gaddafi stood for. It is a personal attack rather than an attack on policy. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project The Gaddafi regime embarked on one of modern man’s edifices of development: the Great Man-Made River Project to make water available to the whole country. As is known, Libya is in a desert region and Gaddafi’s plan to ascertain every citizen of access was the Great Man-Made River Project. This was Sabotaged by the British SAS who also destroyed the infrastructure which built the Pipework. This seems to be more of an act of spite as this was a pet project of Mr Gadaffi. Destroying Pipelines and causing Eco Disasters is still continuing . Libya had no external debt and had reserves of $150 billion most of which were frozen globally Libya was a well-endowed state. To put this into perspective, the self-acclaimed champion of democracy and capitalism, the USA has a debt of over $18 trillion. Libya had none. Enough said. The price of petrol was $0,14 per litre In 2011, Staveley Head, a UK-based provider of insurance products compiled a list of countries with the lowest petrol prices in the world. China.org.cn reported the listing which put Libya at third position with its low $0,14. Having a home was considered a human right Gaddafi’s Green Book categorically stated, “The house is a basic need of both the individual and the family, therefore it should not be owned by others.” The Green Book was Gaddafi’s bible of political philosophy and had first been published in 1975. He vowed that he would not secure a house for his own parents until every citizen had one. Gender equality actually a reality Women in Libya were free to work and dress as they liked, subject to family constraints. The “dictator” did not impose any particular repressive canon on women and considering the sensitivities of the Arab community to gender roles, this was a big feat. Universal access to primary education was achieved in a relatively short space of time under Gaddafi. The Human Development Index was better than two-thirds of the countries reported on The Human Development Report has been published since 1990 and it is in the report that the HDI is found. The last time the report was released with Gaddafi in power, Libya was ranked 53 of 163 countries with comparable data. The HDI of Arab states was 0,641 while Libya’s was 0,760. Libya was therefore better off than most Arab States. The HDI provides a composite measure of health, education and income. Does being placed above the Arab States average mean all was rosy? By no means! It simply means there were worse countries that the Western “whistle-blowers” did not “rescue”. In 2009, Libya was reported to be on track to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. People had enough food This does not need to be qualified. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) confirmed that undernourishment was less than 5% with a daily calorie intake of 3144. This was one “oppressor” whose subjects had enough. With the Great Man-Made River Project, Gaddafi was securing an even brighter agricultural future to feed his nation. Pessimists can be claimed he was feeding citizens for the slaughter. Privatization of all Libyan oil to every citizen On 21 February 2011, Gaddafi launched a programme to privatize all Libyan oil to every citizen of Libya. This would initially provide $21,000 to every citizen from a total of $32 billion in 2011 and effectively lead to the dissolution of the ministries of health, education and others to eliminate corruption, theft of oil by foreign companies and to decentralise power. Was Gaddafi a dictator? Yes. Did he violate the human rights of some citizens? Yes. Did he keep his dead victims in coolers as trophies of his macabre exploits? Did he do the rounds of Kindergartens and take victims to be raped in his special Clinic as alleged by the BBC? So they say! However, he also had a heart for his country and the world conveniently skips that part every time. How one man could be such a paradoxical figure is a wonder.

There are so many jokes that are trying to pretend to be people on KZbin. His own people killed him after dragging him out of his home and it was because he had just had over 1,000 political prisoners slaughtered in one night during a Revolt at his favorite prison. It was the final straw after his drug addiction and woman raping that he actually had an abortion clinic hidden and built in the basement of their greatest University just for his woman abusing atrocities. If you're going to pretend the people in those streets give a damn about currency, you're stupid beyond help and shouldn't be allowed to look adults in the eye without permission

Trust me when I say that 99.98 percent of Americans or Western don’t care about you or Africa. It’s only the greedy oil fcks that none of us know anyway. So trust when we say we don’t care what goes on over there. But we DO KNOW that most of you that want to be educated go to western countries to do your education. Then what happens? You don’t want to leave because you see how much better 1st world countries are set up and the endless opportunities given to you for you to be able to “succeed”. Cause you don’t have the same opportunities to make something of yourself AND become super wealthy AND then move all 40 family members over so they can get educated and “become” anything they want to be. So stop with the cap 🧢 , we all know that if given a choice- almost 100 percent of you would much you’d rather have a nice apartment with running water, refrigerator, shower and toilet, a nice car and the list on gets bigger. Live on clay mud in a clay mud “house” with 15 people sleeping with no privacy or have a chance to do what most of the neighbors around can’t do- but go ahead keep Africa, we don’t want too.

My family lived in Tobruk during the early 60's. Dad was working at El Adem and our house was in 'Donkey Square' near the Catholic Church. Dad had bought himself a VW Beetle and drove it back from Benghazi and parked it in the street where a 'vandal' decided to take a stone and put a dent in the door. When the car was repaired it was kept in a Garage. We used to make weekly shopping trips into town with Mum and Dad always insisted that the car was parked in the most secure place that she could find. Mum chose the National Police Car Park. The last shop on the trip was the Bread shop and we would sit on a wall eating our Breadsticks watching Mum pack the car. Mum had parked the car in this place for months and on returning to the VW would find a Parking Ticket. After looking up at the office window she would wrip the Ticket and throw it over her shoulder before continuing to pack the car. This went on for months,.........Same routine with Parking Ticket until one afternnoon we saw a tall and very smart uniformed man come out and he spoke with Mum. This gentleman said " Good afternoon Mrs S, here is this weeks Parking Ticket" and with that he tore up the Parking Ticket and threw it over his own shoulder ! Mother described this man as being extremely polite and very handsome. He seemed to be very interested in the car and said he would would like to own a VW Beetle and after taking a look around the car said cheerio. Years later Captain Gaddafi bought his own Yellow VW Beetle in which he would visit the many farming and iirigation projects that his Government promoted. Perhaps that episode in the National Police car park inspired this great, handsome and extremely polite man to purchase the Beetle,..........Mum liked to think so.

His capture were in all news media back then. A video showing him surrounded by fighters and he was bleeding a bit but alive. The video panned away from him and shouts were heard after which a single shot rang out. The video panned back to him and he had a single bullet hole at the bottom of the left ear. It was said, a fighter used Gadaffi's own gold pistol to shoot him in the head.

no, they beat him for hours before they shot him, they then tied him on a rope and dragged him by car (probably when he was still alive) around the city for most the day parading his body (naked). it was all recorded on phones but all the footages have now vanished. he suffered a very slow, brutal inhumane death (NATO's civilised methods). one thing for certain he was still talking like a lion and showed no fear and didn't whimper or cry as they beat him and tried to embarrass him. probably why they erased the footages because he took it like a Man. he was more of a lion and 20 times the man compared to ALL the Western leaders combined. he's a fucking Don. he had a vision to help the poor, to unite Africa, he dished out most of his wealth.

you don't know shit, operation Ajax??? the USA funded bogus protests in Libya as they've done before (hiring ex cons). exaggerated to Western voters, Russia Today went there and saw nothing. because he was creating a single African gold backed currency that would hack away Western control of third world currencies (ie valuation by your "markets") and put a value on African resources. Gaddafi's Libya had the best welfare system on the planet, do your research, $50k to newly weds, 50% government grant to new houses for newly weds, free education, free health, 100% funding for any education in any country including accommodation. 100% funded treatment in any hospital in any country. unemployment benefits 100% of salary of your education/job level, so unemployed doctor gets paid a full salary by the state. had more gold in his reserves than the UK (all disappeared now though, where to??). Gaddafi used to walk the streets regularly, ask normal people about their problems and fix them. he was setting standards which exposed every other government. do your research if you dare.

And it came right after he had over 1,000 political prisoners slaughtered in one night during a Revolt at his favorite prison. That's on top of his atrocities such as raping so many women he had to have a hidden abortion clinic built in the basement underneath their greatest University. Are you not embarrassed to be this willfully dumb and just pronounce things out loud you heard someone else say so you think it sounds clever and will make you seem smart? @HalleluYAH 5 No mate. Everyone to their own. If you want to believe in God and quote the Bible ecta. That's great. I wish you all the best. But it's not for me. So using Biblical or religious arguments with me, wont achieve anything. The good thing is the the Christian Churches stood up against the death penalty. Indeed they are one of the major opponents of it. For that, I am greatful.

@HalleluYAH 5 each to their own, I believe in science. Blindly following others and the bible. Does it make sense the age Noah is supposed to have lived and how many children. Would a kind god cause a flood to kill humans, impossible to collect 2 of every species for the ark . We still have tsunamis, earthquakes and many other disasters that kill people, and why aren't murderers, rapists, paedophiles etc not struck down. Why sickness, draught ,famine . The world is a cruel place so where is a benevolent God?
