Three processes at work here. 1) You exaggerate, only a small proportion of comments refer to ancestors in Milan at the time. 2) Selection effect. People with a familial connection to the event will be drawn to the video. My mother’s uncle was with pattons tank division and left us pictures of Mussolini hanging upside down in the town square after his execution. My father served with the Texas 36th Division of the US Army during WWII and participated in the invasion of Italy from North Africa. He told me all about what happened to Mussolini and his mistress when I was a little boy. Having spent lots of time in Italy during my lifetime, the only good things I can say about Il Duce are that I like the surviving Mussolini architecture from that period (e.g. the oldest part of the central train station in Rome) and the fact that he had much of Pompeii excavated. You can visit Palacio Venecia on Piazza Venecia in Rome where Mussolini lived and see the window overlooking the piazza from which he gave his speeches. Adolf Hitler learned his poses and theatrical gestures from Mussolini who became a fascist dictator long before Hitler. My dad said that the Italian people despised Mussolini for bringing their country to ruin and welcomed the allied forces as they swept up the Italian peninsula freeing the country from the Germans. Somebody should send this video to Donald Trump so that he can see what can happen to dictators.
