Chaos: *Is most powerful being in existence* *creates the universe* *leaves* *refuses to elaborate further*
@WildMen44444 ай бұрын
Technically speaking, Chaos isn't exactly "the most powerful". Chaos just is. Chaos is also still present as the lower atmosphere. She's the air we breathe. Various sources somewhat reference this. Suidas s.v. Khaos (trans. Suda On Line) (Byzantine Greek lexicon C10th A.D.) : "Khaos (Chaos, Space) : Also the air (aer), according to Aristophanes in the Birds : ‘You shall not grant passage to the smell of the (burning sacificial) thighs through your foreign city and the space (khaos).’ Also ‘even Zeus is older than Khaos,’ in the very ancient writers. And Ibykos (Ibycus) (writes): ‘he flies about in someone else's space (khaos).' And again: 'He fools around and spouts nonsense at us in vain, that even Zeus lived earlier than khaos.’"

@@WildMen4444good points and thanks for the sources. I was taught that Chaos isn't exactly a living being per say but moreso they are just the void that existed before Gaia and the primordials
@WildMen44444 ай бұрын
@@irotr53Chaos is the void. However, that void is alive in a sense. Animism, you know? Later history has Chaos as a mix of undifferentiated elements rather than just a void
@irotr534 ай бұрын
@@WildMen4444yeah I don't mean inanimate but I don't mean alive either. Chaos just IS. Some versions depict them as alive, others just as a void, or maybe a mix of the two
@WildMen44444 ай бұрын
@@irotr53Theologically speaking, Chaos is always alive. There's not a version where Chaos is not alive. We need to remember that the Greeks were animistic. You can't have the other Gods just emerge from non-life

I don't like pop culture depictions of the Gods most times but the show seemed alright from what I saw. I would have written differently but that's pretty obvious. I also haven't seen the whole thing so please don't take this as a full review
@joey175034 ай бұрын
Honestly I will say out of all the gods that were accurately depicted (aside from Hera and of course, Zeus) Ares was the most accurately depicted in the show. I say this because they show how brutal, violent, arrogant, cruel and how much of a trouble maker that they portrayed him just like in Greek Mythology. And also just how much the other gods dislike him. As far as him being a moma’s boy goes as they shown in season two, I like it because it still adds to his character. But I can confidently say that the only reason why he defended Hera was, as I stated, he was trouble maker and trying to pick fights with the other Olympians, which the did accurately show as well. Plus I also say he’s a moma’s boy is because I’m mean he is Hera’s child and he has her qualities: anger, jealousy and toxicity.

@@joey17503 See, hearing that, I now like the show less. But then again, I don't like most pop culture depictions of the Gods. No real substance behind it. It's all just trying to be superhero shows in Greek trappings

@catbelugagaming584 The same thing can happen if your source is in a single book. This is why you shouldn't use just one source. Wikipedia is very useful, as is KZbin, but you should always check the information (if it is important to you). And, just for the record, we use multiple sources and put a lot of effort on each video! 😉
