I was roster 155, I made it to the second last day. The schedule they disclose is not accurate to what we were doing. Team events was brutal, especially being the tallest guy among "shorties" it makes a difference and it cost me a physical profile for a good 6 months. I was selected for CA a year after (advised to go CA, due to experience). I don't regret anything, I learned a lot and I was surrounded by America's best! AATW!

Went through selection twice back in ‘88/‘89. 21 days straight. Got selected both times. Four gates; Gate 1 - individual (paperwork, pt test, swim test). First cut. Gate 2 - individual (land nav, runs, ruck marches, psych tests, DLAB test, obstacle course). Second cut. Gate 3 - team (two officers, 10 enlisted) - 100 sandbag runs on gun range, 2 sandman (downed pilots) movements, 14 155 Howitzer crates movements, 2 telephone poles movements, 2 jeep movements, 2 jeep trailer movements, 8 20mm ammo cans movements, 16 5 gallon can movements, Third cut. Gate 4 - 26-mile ruck march. Run toward a telephone pole, walk to the next, and so on. 3:15 hrs. I was smoked at the end. Graduation - Final Cut. those whom they call out the class were no-gos. Selection, back then, to me, was harder than the current one. Why? Cause we didn’t have all the G2 info they have now thanks to the Internet. Back then, you really had no clue of what was next or how to train up for it so you would just workout and ruck in general. Not like all of the data points out there like on General Discharges’ YT channel. And those that had made it wouldn’t talk and those non-selects were too embarrassed to talk about it.

@@thelmadickinson6811 it’s something we just did back in the day. I went to Ranger School as well, and to me, and in my comparison, Ranger Instructors (RI) were more professional. Yeah, there was always instructor roulette, however, there were fewer at Ranger School than the SF instructors at the Q course. They were the “keepers of the tab”, but it seems that’s not the case anymore. As I mentioned earlier, with the knowledge base out there, selection is easier now than before. That “SFC” went a little too overboard. Come on, dude, yeah, we know, “you got the tab!!!” See what I mean? And the brother that said, “Yo,” that was a simple and natural reaction. He probably wasn’t paying attention as to who it was actual, then some random knucklehead touching people’s stuff. Feel me?

@@elvisacosta6666 my son went in ‘22 when there was Basic info out there. FNG and Zack Hughes. Not a lot of g2. While there is a lot of info out there, selection rates are really low. Q allowed one recycle total when he went through. Thankfully, son had none.

Wait - one question - you said this land nav exam is 70-80 miles - over 10 hours? That's 7 miles in an hour. Even the infamous air assault 12 miler is 3 hours and is considered hard, with a 35-40 pound ruck. They're carrying more (it seems) and have to do twice that speed - over broken terrain? Even running an 8 min mile the whole time would be over 9 hours. Not trying to be "Stanley the Sniper" here - just trying to figure the math.

Buddy 70-80 miles in the dark with a pack seems like they are not making it because the average speed is 5mph or 6mph to go 50miles takes all day long and night hard running ........ That's a exaggeration especially when land navigation is involved.....unless that is not actually that, and then you will make sense and they makes sense as well.

@@veteransowhat5669 the star course is easily 25km per night to find 4 points so 50 km, so 30+ miles. That's like having somebody you don't know tell you, you can go to the Pentagon for a tour. Then having your bank account actually be 200 dollars shorter than you account for. Also having them listening to what you say before in the cab ride, attempting to make you look bad..... Then having a meeting with the FBI, And other companies as you meet Force protection because they "said," and do not really know what they are talking about. It is like military definitions are we going off of U.S.H.R. or U.S.S. ? Also it can change according to what that lady says and if people are getting hurt real bad...... For example in airborne course canceling night jumps because buddy got hurt, and was taken out on a stretcher. The lady with the blue shirt and black pants tells talks to the jump master...... So in this course they cancel all night jumps but you still get your wings...... Another example is not actually saying "do not look at the ground at 100ft-90ft height because as your falling the atmosphere pressure changes so only look to the horizon at that time and prepare for your PLF by pulling risors and getting in the correct body position." If you're with that lady you're in good hands because she is going to check on you every so often The big government can change things within any given course. Things get exaggerated......or how selfish is "this," they do not like the questions your asking so they are going to "tell you lies, sweet little lies," until you get all messed up and brain washed ant this is better to have your head messed up because they make a twisted business off your mental health.......? I do not know? what I am asking ....!
