There is a large temperature difference, glad you noticed it. That's why so many pensioners up here will struggle with the heating allowance funding being removed.
@OurWedding20122 ай бұрын
And that is the summertime, changeable weather, it can be warm too! The MP’s who have taken away the cold weather payments should be sent up to live in Scotland for a winter, and get them to pay their own heating bills from their own pocket, not the taxpayers money. They might appreciate what they have done to our pensioners and vulnerable people in our society.

My favourite bit of this vid was the wee man in his wellies, hood up, not caring about the baltic 🏴 weather living his best life on the beach. You guys have 'canned' that memory for him so his kids, and his kids kids will get to enjoy it too. 👍

Lorne sausage is amazing, it's usually called square or slice. We used to always take some with us when we visited friends in Kent because they missed it so much. I think some butchers in England can get it for you, but I really don't know why it's not really a thing in England...It's the best thing ever in a breakfast roll! If you've got recurrent nosebleeds go and get checked by your GP, it can usually be fixed by something simple. I had to get my nose cauterized once because of recurrent nosebleeds - there was just a weak spot in one of the blood vessels, it wasn't pleasant but it sounds worse than it actually was! If you suffer from hayfever at all it could also be triggered by exposure to different pollens.

Not surprised you're loving your van life adventure. You guys have such "itchy feet" as we call it here. (Or wanderlust in your part of the world.) Can you swim in that white sand beach during summer? I've always known there are white sand beaches not just in Scotland but other parts of the UK as well. Though when it comes to beaches, I still prefer our warm tropical ones with coconut trees. And i love those Highland Cows too. I always see pictures and videos of them online. The calves are esp. cute. The castle ruins are epic. Makes you wonder who dwelt in and owned them in times past. 17:00 - Of my gosh, Koda's cheeks are cherry red! 🍒

Hi Lucy, You said that your skin was very dry so I am guessing the lining of your nose is dry too. If you have something like vaseline rub a little of it inside your nose and that might help. Anything above 70 mph we maybe fly our kites....(Joking) The highest ever recorded windspeed in Scotland measured by the UK Met Office in 1986 is 173 miles per hour (278.KPH) and not too far away on Cairngorm summit.....and as for feeling cold the lowest recorded temp by UK Met Office in 1982 was -..-minus 27.2 C in Altnaharra which again is not too far away ,less than 50 miles South East of Durness.

Scottish Midges: The Tiny Biter Causing Big Problems for Tourists The infamous Scottish midges are small, mosquito-like insects that plague the Scottish Highlands during the summer months. Though tiny, these midges are a major nuisance for both locals and tourists alike. Their bites can cause itching, irritation, and in some cases, even lead to unexpected symptoms such as nosebleeds. This peculiar reaction has been reported by tourists, and it’s linked to a unique mechanism employed by these biting insects. When a midge bites, it injects an anti-coagulant into the skin of its victim. This substance prevents the blood from clotting, allowing the insect to feed more easily. While this process is harmless to many, some individuals have more sensitive reactions to the anti-coagulant. This sensitivity can lead to systemic responses such as inflammation, allergic reactions, or in rare cases, the occurrence of spontaneous nosebleeds. In some tourists, particularly those unaccustomed to midge bites, the anti-coagulant injected by the midge may trigger a mild coagulopathy-an abnormality in the blood’s clotting ability. This can result in spontaneous bleeding, such as nosebleeds, especially in those who may already have fragile nasal blood vessels or who are prone to nosebleeds in dry or cold conditions. The increased irritability of the body's blood vessels, combined with the anti-coagulant's action, makes nosebleeds more likely in some individuals. To avoid midge bites, tourists are advised to wear insect repellent, long sleeves, and use protective nets during peak midge seasons. For those who experience unusual symptoms such as nosebleeds after being bitten, staying hydrated and using saline nasal sprays can help prevent dryness and reduce the risk of further nosebleeds. While the occurrence of nosebleeds from midge bites is uncommon, it's a reminder of the sometimes unexpected consequences that can arise from interactions with nature.

@markwilkie36772 ай бұрын
Scotland has an average humidity of 83% so I doubt very much its dry air to blame. I`d be looking at the water as water in areas of Peatland has a high PH, eg (acidic) the opposite of what you will find is Southern England where the water is Alkaline or chalky. Edited to add that here in the lowlands our water out the tap is PH7 which is neutral.
