I love Rossi but I don't think he did his legacy any good the way he handled it all.. Ultimately, only Lorenzo beat MM over a full season (out of the top 3 prior to MM injuries)... Lorenzo wasn't his best mate either, but he got on with it. Rossi always played dirty with riders who were able to challenge him and beat him. Provoke them on and off the track was part of Rossi's mind games. That worked wonders on rivals like Gibernau and Biaggi, but Stoner, Lorenzo and Marquez were not ruffled as easily. The day Rossi lost the 2015 world title was in Sepang press conference when he came up with his delusional conspiracy theory that Marc was helping Lorenzo even when he took 5 points away from Lorenzo by beating him on the last lap in Australia. Lorenzo was faster and comfortably beating Rossi in the 2nd half of the season and Rossi needed a scapegoat which was Marquez. However it spectacularly backfired on Rossi himself the next day!! No rider would take an insult like that and not retaliate in the race. We all know how that went as Rossi lost his head and ran Marquez off track!!

No one here gives this moment in history enough scrutiny, because not interfering with someone contending the title has always been an unwritten rule! Now Italians have come to MM's rescue. It was not Rossi who started it. I am watching and reading about this and i simply must say something because i hate lies and pretending. Marquez started the whole thing by being a "friend" in the paddock,then doing everything to pi.. off Rossi on the track. And so it went. Non stop. When it got totally obvious in 2015,Rossi still didn't react,and the kid was being more and more cheeky. Then,at the LAST PART OF THE SEASON,it became so bad that Rossi finally snapped and pushed him wide and on the first touch Marquez fell like a striker trying to fake a penalty in the box. And,of course,Rossi is not spanish so he got the penalty. ANYONE who followed MotoGP before and during Maruez's appearance and during the feud,will know that Marquez started provoking Rossi long before it culminated in 2015. I follow MotoGp for 26 years. That was the first time that i saw a rider race in a manner so that the third party,not him,not his direct opponent,but a third guy who is ALSO(??!!)his opponent can benefit from his racing. Never saw that before. Especially not in motorcycling. They should burry the hatchet and so long. Because it doesn't make sense chewing that over again.

I loved Valentino for years!, as he was a showman and made it interesting. His rivalries with other riders was great viewing. I didn’t like Marques for years as I think he was dangerous when he was overtaken he would dive bomb and ruin his race and his opponents race just get the place back! But when he ruined Rossi’s race for the title against Jorge by holding him up was a bit too much. I stopped watching MotoGP for a few years after Rossi retired but I have started watching it again as now find myself rooting for Marques as he is the underdog!,,,

What all on the same championship winning bike? Rossi left the best team to switch to the Yamaha team that were not winning and managed to win not only back to back races but back to back titles. His irresponsible behaviour out on track, crashing into others by arriving at corners 50 mph too fast. His bike is not great at the moment. Teams rise, and teams fall. That's racing. It's just how it is. Saying, "I would rather fall off and try to win," is a primadonna statement in itself. There have always been riders in Motogp that have always known that they may never win a race but would never compromise their fellow competitors or themselves. Wait, wait. This narrative is not accurate. The rivalry became much before Sepang 2015, plus there is much more to say on that race and the previous one about the behavior of Marquez. It is impossibile to summarize everything without misleading people on 4:44 minutes. The “kick” itself was explained in a misleading way. Marquez did not fall because of Rossi kicking him, but because he insisted in accelerating against him while leaned right. When he touched him of course he fell and Rossi’s knee lost contact with its supporting lever giving the impression of a kick. If you see the scene from the above, it is quite clear… I don’t know how long you follow MotoGP, but this narration is biased. Rossi was correctly penalized in Valencia for leading Marquez wide , creating a dangerous situation, but not for the kick because no kick was ever given, quite the opposite instead.

It is possible that Marquez had started to form a conspiracy, but that also means that Rossi would be able to have done some conspiring, and in fact he did, remember Gibernau.
