good to see it actually work. I was getting frustrated because I can not get mine to connect. I think in my local area, the packet nodes are restricted to certain callsigns or are not active all the time.

Yeah, we only have 1 packet WinLink RMS near me and it was disconnected for a long time. I convinced the owner to turn it back on. I hope we can get packet going again. Makes sense with these types of radios becoming so popular now.

My local Winlink FM RMS was also turned off and I emailed the owner (contacts are on the Winlink site for all RMS) and they thanked me as they did not know it needed to be reset. I then had successful Packet and VARA FM connections. So much faster than Pactor HF but I was about 200 miles closer on a line of sight HT.

Have you tried using Winlink on computer with the UV Pro without Radiomail yet? Does Radiomail require internet (cell) connection to work the way you show?
@WY6Y-s3v24 күн бұрын
I haven’t tried it on my PC yet but I’ll give it a go tonight. RadioMail does not require internet to send an email as long as you have a WinLink RMS within range. This would be very useful for hikers and campers if we can make Packet RMSs more popular and abundant. As WinLink is intermodal, your effective range over RF is pretty large if the RMS you connect to has an HF RMS connected too

@@WY6Y-s3v I would love to see a video if possible in your future posts. Thank you. I have ordered my radio and only experience is with an HT and Digirig interface going to my Windows PC running VARA FM. Would love to just Bluetooth. I have not purchased RadioMail yet so not sure of its capabilities.

@@harleysoltes I’m pretty sure the internal bluetooth TNC will never support VARA FM unfortunately as it is proprietary software. It would be AMAZING if it did, but I do not foresee it happening. I think you will still need the digirig to do VARA FM. I have not looked to see yet what type of connection it would need from the DigiRig to the UV-Pro though. I will investigate and make another video with my findings. 73 -Stephen

I have the Digirig to K1 that works with most radios and it sounds like the UV PRO needs an adapter to get to K1. Sold by BTech . Wonder why they changed it from the rest of their radios.

Ask and ye shall receive. Here it is, using the radio with WinLink Express on a PC. Not as easy as RadioMail. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGKTgH2dYt6lrNEsi=9OdwqqE3L0MTHczf
