Good thing you got one , Buck hasn't listed them in the 2023 dealer catalog. I got mine many years ago and it's a great knife. I'm sure it will go up in value .

In my opinion, the 124 is one of the most handsome fixed blades out there. And it’s a work horse too! I don’t own one right now, but I plan to down the road. Cheers, buddy!

Ok BH we have to have a man to man……. Get to bucks website and order this knife right now……. @@jerseyknifeguy6382 You betcha'. I'm a traditional pocket knife and a fixed blade knife kinda' guy. I've been concentrating on fixed blades in clusters of time. The last time was late last year and boyoboy did I score. I'll cycle around to fixed blades again and I've promised myself that the 124 is at the top of the list. Where did you get yours?

The buck 124 was my first buck knife my mom and dad gave it to me when I got my Eagle Scout in 1972. They had the knife engraved with my name and the date recently I gave the knife to my son since he has the same first name as I do and it is now a family heirloom. problem is I want it back again so I will have to buy a new one!

Good review, I paid $300 for my Frontiersman custom made with Cocobolo wood, and a name added for an important friend as a gift. It did come with defects not perfect, but I still like it.

I always laugh when people say a knife is too big for a task. Usually, my 124 is my 'small' knife. I've used it to clean and fillet a lot of fish for example. I know most people look at a sharp or semi sharp spine for ferro rods, but for me, i use it for debarking wood, or filleting fish far far more.

It's such a beautiful knife; if I owned it I'd have a hard time taking it out in the woods and using it. Couldn't bear to baton it. It's a work of art. I have the much cheaper 119. I like the looks of the blood groove in the 119 blade. What I like about the 124 is that you can see the exact size of the tang. The tang on the 119 is completely hidden by the handle.

Great review, can't wait till an SV30 version comes out. That thing will be an even better cutter, and at that thickness you won't have to worry about fragility from the hardness.

Hey Pete my only fixed blade I had was my Buck Pathfinder with the 5” blade,it was my main carry in Vietnam and I will say it done it’s “JOB” if you know what I mean.Nice review Pete.

A very happy Fixed Blade Friday to you. Awesome knife and you are correct, it needs to be out where it can be seen and appreciated. They are attention getters. I've not used mine but Enzo over at the BCUSA forum recently posted some of the amazing feats he has managed with his 124, everything from carving to meal prep. Super capable knife. On the upside of being late to the game is how much more appreciative you are when you're in.

The hollow grind is very acute, but cons on the 124 are the ergonomics... the handle is very blocky, and the guard is going to be an obstacle for certain cutting tasks. Edit: I would probably opt for a Finnish leuku if you're looking for a large bushcrafting type blade.
