Күн бұрын

Breaking news came about on the Pewter Report Podcast that the #Bucs had blocked the #Jaguars' request to interview Tampa Bay's offensive line coach Kevin Carberry for a similar role.
Carberry has been very important to the coaching staff of Todd Bowles, revamping the #Buccaneers' offensive line and getting the team to have a top five O-line and top five running game as well.
Why Coen thought he could take, or even ask, to have another coach on the #Bucs staff after leaving the team is another question in of itself. There was no way that Tampa Bay was going to let that happen at all.
Pewter Report reacted to the news and gave our opinion on the latest Pewter Report Podcast episode.

Baker doesn't mind Coen leaving, he'll just have to break in his 9th Offensive Coordinator in what will be his 8th year. BUT! Baker doesn't want anyone messing with his O-line...that's where he makes his bread and butter. He just took his linemen and mates to the Bahamas on vacation. Carberry wouldn't have that kind of a "tight" group of linemen in Jacksonville. Coen's got his hands full; he'll have more gristle than gravy before he gets that team headed in the right direction.

I feel like if you're a coordinator & you don't finish out your contract with a team but you leave anyway, you shouldn't be allowed to bring people with you from your former team to new team. Might want to look at it from OL Coach Kevin's perspective. No way he comes back after this contract when his own team is going to block potential opportunities. The Jags aren't offering a promotion. Therefore, it's the Bucs decision whether or not to let them interview. As much as this has been spun as some sort of revenge, it's pretty standard for teams to do this, especially considering that in the Bucs case, they don't have a OC at the moment, and so won't know who the next OC wants to keep around. I'd highly doubt the Bucs would let any team interview any of their offensive coaches at the moment.

@akzane3030 A couple of things here. Firstly, he's under contract for a set duration of time, the same way players are, so the same basic rules apply. Secondly, it was the Jags requested the interview, not the coach. Just because Coen's gone, doesn't mean that he would want to go with him. He's spent the past year in Tampa, working with Tampa's O-Line, the rest of the Bucs coaches, players, and staff, probably moved his family there, and everything else. It not the same kind of choice that Coen had, where he'd have been stupid not to go.
