I don't usually talk about build and comfort but here are some extra comments: COMFORT: great as expected; the Senny negative-profile shell is very small and ergonomic. Most people barely feel it. BUILD: the IEM itself is fine (plastic but well-assembled) but yes, the cable is absolute GARBO and absolutely lacking in terms of the current competition.

I just picked up a set of ie200s the other day since they are currently on sale for $119. During my first impressions they seemed a bit bright, I swapped out the tips for the foam and that reduced the treble, next I applied the tape mod, that gave the bass more body and stronger impact. Those two changes turned these iems into something with a boring studio sound into something I can really enjoy my music with. They have a good amount of detail and clarity. I use an hd800s at home as my daily, these don't sound anywhere near as good as those but they do have a similar presentation. The cable doesn't bother me too much after I put a velcro strap on it...

With everyone mentioning the cable, I was surprised when it came and was… just a cable. I appreciate the strengths of the IE200 but I ended up returning them. The cable issues, the tip issues, the fit that is so secure in the outer ear canal that is actually becomes irritating, I found ways to deal with all of that. What killed the IE200 for me is the somewhat "plastic-y" quality of the mids. I guess I just don't like the technicalities of this SPD-like driver, it is very fast and resolving almost like a BA but the texture is just dry and lifeless, not even that cold or metallic which I can live with but it's like the opposite of lush, just kind of cheap sounding. Maybe the IE600 is truly next-level over this but I found many IEMs around the IE200 price (and lower) that I would prefer. Hell the SPD in the Kinera IEMs sounds more natural to me and those are way less.

I also bought the CX+ true wireless because I wanted something for on the go and when riding my bike, but I have a love-hate relationship with them. They sound too boomey and too V shaped to me, but I can also appreciate that the lows are way more prominent than with the HD650. Now I am looking for inears that do give me the experience the way it was intended, but don’t lack bass in general. Can anyone confirm the IE 400 give me the bass I want when listening to 50cent and the clarity I want when listening to Andrea Bocelli? I really want something that does it all but has the typical Sennheiser treble. I also like the fact that I can hook them to the bluetooth module when riding a bike and wind noise is more of a disturbance than bandwidth. Thanks in advance

@lurkingstar Жыл бұрын
If you can't hear a difference, you'll be completely fine - 320kbps mp3 is nearly indistinguishable from lossless. How good it'll sound (both lossy and lossless) really depends on how well it was recorded and processed in the first place. (in addition to the gear you're using, of course)
@MLWJ1993 Жыл бұрын
It truly depends on what lossy format you listen to. Old 128kbps MP3's sound awful & you'll immediately know it. If you have at least MP3 LAME encoded lossy files at a high enough bitrate most people will be very hard pressed to hear ANY difference. More modern lossy codec's can go even lower whilst remaining transparent.

Value is subjective, but keep in mind they are 3D printed of Amorphous zirconium alloy, and made in Ireland. @@iuliani1663 Yeah, the same IEM made in China would cost less, vs Ireland. I also suspect the IE600's shell, being metal, "should" last longer. OTOH, a severe drop could damage the internals, due to shock. The 4.4mm cable, on it's own is a $150 cable, and Sennheiser uses a proprietary cable. Campfire Audio had IEM's made of ceramic, and they warn against drops and even banging them together. The shock may not crack the ceramic shell, but would transfer the shock inside and damage the driver or components. I suspect the harder shells prevent bass frequencies from vibrating the shells, transfers more energy into sound. The CA Vega go down to 5Hz, and make you think a subwoofer is on somewhere, you can feel it in your spine. Yet, it's not a deafening pressure.

@martla444 Жыл бұрын
the cable was truly terrible, not as much the cable itself but the left side connection kept dropping right out of the box. they really need to fix this.

B- techs seem to be a little underwhelming for the price. Hexa is A+ tone & B tech for way cheaper
@laylowx Жыл бұрын
These have amazing bass, at least when tape modded. And have gone on sale for $100
@iikatinggangsengii2471 Жыл бұрын
yes all those 2000s indeed seem pricey
@iikatinggangsengii2471 Жыл бұрын
this v3+ is really good though
@vianhoho19 Жыл бұрын
And it is. Hexa gets B techs, at least how I see it, because it's a Hybrid and the 3 BAs really make a difference in the technical performance.

comfort is a major consideration for some and not a single one of those chifis even remotely approaches the IE series in that regard

So, did I miss something? IEM stands for in ear monitors. Those are what we musicians use on stage or sometimes in the studio if we do live recordings. So they're not meant to be used to listen to music, they're specialized in being eq-ed so that you hear the things you want to hear and don't hear the things you don't want to hear. They're similar to studio headphones: They're not made to make music sound good to a consumer. So why should somebody use IEMs for listening to music? I don't understand but I'm not part of the audiophile community so I really don't know.
@GiJoe94 Жыл бұрын
Don't worry the audiophile community also doesn't know
@marctestarossa Жыл бұрын
^^ This feels like an honest response. I wouldn't use 1000 € IEMs for every day gigging, at least if I had to pay for them. And I don't want something like a soundstage, I want my voice and the drummer and the bassist right in my ear as close to my brainstem as possible, not in an open space where I need to find them xD
@teeteetuu94 Жыл бұрын
IEM in this case (consumer grade in-ear earphones) is more of a misnomer. The only things in common between this and a real deal IEM are that they fit into our ear canals and make sound. I've always known them as in-ears and only started seeing IEM being used to describe these when I got into chi-fi, then wondered why they're called "monitors".

im more a mechanical keyboard enthusiast than an audiophile, but I burst. out laughing when budget meant $150. I should't have though.

i hate how for years "Budget Custom mechanical keyboard" actually meant it costs $400 :3

Sure comfy would be from his standpoint, but may not be for everyones liking, so pretty subjective, even more so than sound quality and staging

I got the IE 300 and the cable broke after a month of basic use. Horrific design that's anti consumer since you cant replace the cable with another standard one.

It's all subjective the IE900 is loved by many audiophiles though I don't
