The next time the brake is dragging when you pull up to the shop, jack up the wheel and crack the bleeder. If you have pressure, then check the flex hose by cracking the line loose ahead of the hose. If both rear brakes were dragging and there was pressure on both calipers, the residual check valve may be incorrect. Drum brakes use a 5 psi residual check valve, while disc brakes use a 2 psi check valve. The residual check valve is incorporated into the master cylinder. There might be a chance you have a disc/drum master cylinder rather than a disc/disc. You will get it figured out! I enjoy your videos, and keep throwing Mortske some shade!

Move the rotor to the other side for a test and see if the noise follows the rotor. Might be getting hot and warping a bit because of the emergency brake binding from before.

Check your brake master, there are 3 types, drum-drum, disc-drum and disc-disc. The drum ones have a check valve in them that hold a little pressure and that may be your problem.

To keep brake fluid from leaking out of the reservoir if you have to open the system, wedge a long screwdriver or metal rod between the front edge of the seat and the brake pedal, so it pushes the pedal down some to lightly apply the brakes. This will block off the return port in the master cylinder and keep fluid from leaking out while you have the system open. This way too, you don't risk letting air into any line other than the one you're working on. Love the content. Keep up the awesome work! And, I really want to see you finish Mr. Mercer.

@@davidfulton3939he could just break the circuit with the switch under the dash and have that switch light up when current is flowing through it. So when current is flowing to the taillights then flip knob is lit up. Are you some kind of indicator light. I can remember having this option on a couple of vehicles myself. My grandfather had this option on a couple of his card back in his day. He just remembered to flip the switch at the right time anyway. It wasn't because of a malfunction. Let's just say he was transporting homemade Brew. And my bedtime but you don't want to have lights shining on the back of your car. Same principle. Just a thought 🤔

I ran those similar brakes before with conversion brackets, and the caliper pins would rub on the outside diameter of the rotor occasionally. Just a thought. Ps; would love to see a golf cart build. It would save you a lot of running around the yard.
@Fflen-o3z

I hate those brakes. Using the parking brake adjusts the calipers, if you do not use the parking brake one day you will not have rear brakes, you have to move to lever back and fourth to bring the pistons out. Also if your trans is a 700r4 12v will lock up the converter but you need a switch or a speed sensor/relay module and adjust speed to lock and unlock. Ron Francis You can't keep the converter locked up.

@Jordan.McDowell
@Jordan.McDowell Жыл бұрын
The brake problem could a proportioning valve. They rarely ever go bad. But it does happen. So each time you hit the brakes, the pressure may not relieve entirely when you let up. So each time you hit the brakes the pressure adds up more and more. Could also be a tear in the rubber brake line on the inside. Can create a flap that won't allow brake fluid to push back when you let off of the brakes

Another great video. Here's a tip . Go to a body shop and ask for some body panel boxes . Great for sloppy jobs like oil changes and dripping break bleeding. You can fold them up and hide them for a couple of jobs then burn them or dumpster them . Most shops are happy to get rid of them .

With your welding and fabricating skills, it would be a simple mater of taking some flat stock and Thickwall tubing to make head height jack stands. Just place under the axle or swing arm and lower the lift until the part bottoms out. Use a Exhaust jack stand for inspiration.

One wire alternators don’t self excite and start charging until you rev past I believe 2800 rpm’s. You can get that plug you pointed at and only hook up the red wire to the charge wire on the alternator and that will excite the charging circuit at all times. Learned this when I converted my 61 Corvair wagon over to an alternator.

Nice work on the old girl :)! I have used fuel line split down the side as an insulator wrapped around a few inches those e-brake flex housings before to keep it from rattling or making noise or scraping when applying or releasing the parking brake. That would be a dream car for me - love the utility 'abiliti' of that old wagon :). One the power steering pump, that bolt on the bottom is an attachment point for installing the reservoir. There is an o-ring or flat gasket o-ring that goes on the pump before the housing is pressed on. The bolt is part of the seal so I think you should be good on that if it stopped leaking. If it starts again you may have to take the pump apart, put a seal between the pump and the res. to stop the leak permanently. Good stuff Puddin :)! On the rear brakes, the pedal adjustment under the dash could have the rod in the master cylinder not retracting all the way when the brake is released. If you adjust the pedal travel out just an 1/8 - 3/16 it should release all fluid pressure and not allow it to build up and drag :)

@jfv65

Those dragging brakes can sometimes be caused by residual pressure in the brakeline. That can be caused by old flex lines puffing up internally or an orrifice in the main brake cylinder not allowing the fluid to return to the reservoir when you let off the brake pedal. I have seen bith happen.

1:06:42 I did that in my 1995 Toyota Camry, and I Love it! You can see the extra mileage accumulate. Are you just doing a switch or adding a 'HALL' Magnetic Switch so when you hit your desired speed it comes on all by itself? 1:11:42 No Relay? No Switch? Isn't it going to cause your wagon to stall at low RPM? 1:12:36 I used a Mortske' Favorite, it's called a 'Scotch Clip'. LOL! 1:17:10 DAMN!!! Just straight on all the time!

Puddin, have you ever thought about mounting that BIG vice on a portable metal table with locking wheels. Then you Can wheel and use it around the whole shop. If you have something wide to be held by the vice, portable vice will be twice as nice. On the 61 Chevy wagon, that white spot on the hood would look good with a big letter ( P ) - white letter outlined in black to go with the Patina.
