as someone who grew up with v1.0, v2.0 came off as just utterly soulless. 1.0 had dirt, it felt lived-in. 2.0 was the extra features menu from a corporate training DVD.

Never been on 2.0, but I loved World of Motion as a kid, so did my Grandma. She was blind so she mostly liked the music and history being told. I was amped for 1.0 and loved it as a kid, but I also owned crash test dummy toys so I feel like it was aimed at a certain era and aged quicker than they expected. Now, looking back WoM is Marc Davis completely unleashed. It may as well have been called Marc Davis’s World of Motion. Classic!🎉

Horizons, Universe of Energy, Maelstrom, Spaceship Earth, Listen to the Land, and World of Motion changed me for the better. It was like going to the most fun museum in the country.

World of Motion all the way. I'm old enough to remember it and it was nice to have a nice calm ride to be able to enjoy with my whole family. My parents are elderly now and can ride fewer and fewer rides, and to have something to bring us back together and to bring us closer to original EPCOT is always what I want. I wouldn't say it was a super popular ride back in its day, but neither was anything at EPCOT, they were all similar dark rides that teach you things, and it was yet another one. But I really liked "It's Fun to Be Free" and how they changed the music style with each scene to correlate with the period, and there was SO much to look at and see new things each time. I look forward to see what the new version is!

7:34 I just realized that those fake traffic cones standing in the way of the cars drop down before they are hit by the cars, which makes sense, as wear and tear on them and the car bumpers probably would be too much given how many times a day they would be hit, but while I knew that they were fake and flat, I still was always under the impression that the car just drives over them, folding them down in the process.

My only concern with a v3.0 of Test Track would be a “disjointed” feel for EPCOT as a whole. While I wasn’t a fan of v2.0, it felt more in theme with the current state of the park; the Tron vibe while weird “worked” thematically. My biggest question for Disney…where are we going with Epcot???
@josephbrown96852 күн бұрын
Modern Disney seems incapable of maintaining a cohesive theme across the parks. There are areas that are done far better than others, some of which have been there for a long time (Frontierland/Liberty Square), but now there is more of a disjointed feeling within the parks overall.

I've only ever experienced Test Track 2.0 so don't feel a lot of grief for the versions of the attraction that came before. The first time we rode it was in 2013 and it was actually pretty new. I thought it was fine, but the important thing about it is that it's the most thrilling ride at Disney World that I can share with my whole family, who are not big thrill enthusiasts. It's right at that upper bound--that and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Anything beyond that, I'm riding solo. When she was little, my daughter absolutely loved the "design your car" queue activity, and that was really the big draw of the ride, that and the post-show activities you could play with the car you designed. But the Tron aesthetic did seem redundant once Disney World had an actual Tron ride, and it does seem like it's high time for another take. I appreciate that GM is the one original sponsor of Epcot that hung on with the slot they originally sponsored, enabling all these changes. Journey to the Center of the Earth at Tokyo DisneySea is the Tokyo counterpart. I had to ride that one myself because they realized that one had a drop, though honestly it's a pretty gentle drop, more of a dark ramp.

I was there on the first night it opened to guests in December 98! Test track opened at the perfect time for me. I was 13. I didn’t have my license yet… but I was already interested in cars thanks to the World of Motion showroom. Thanks to the “how cars work” vibe of Test Track… I fully fell down the automotive repair/restore rabbit hole which is still going strong to this day. I even bought a white 95 Firebird because it reminded me of the shape of the ride cars. I really do miss the original, but I too am one of those weirdos who loved 2.0. I might have to blame that on my love of all things Tron. Said my farewells to it this past May, but I’d like to think that last car I designed on my final ride gets to live on my magic band forever. Here’s to hoping 3.0 gives us lots of fun nods to world of motion! I’m going to be doing a happy dance if Bird and Robot make an appearance.

Disney always will have the same 2 problems: A change in sponsorship can result in huge changes (especially if they don't want reminders to previous show/attraction and/or sponsor -if applicable) The park(s) lean heavily on both nostalgia and futuristic views, balancing these is very hard... because time moves and people change... The trick is how do you make people come back and go 'I remember that!' and still have go 'Oh, that's new!' while also not have them go 'I like the old one better...' (usually bit older repeat visitor) and/or hear them say 'God! This stuff is _sooooo_ outdated!' (usually the younger visitors, without previous experiences in the park) And while stuff like The Castle(s) etc won't be torn down and rebuild anytime soon (unless there's a safety reason) changes like these can ruin an experience (grand) dad had and wanted you to experience... Yes we need to go forward, update rides (systems) etc. but should also be vigilant it doesn't make it feel like a completely different park OMG starting to rant (too long), anyway hope the reskin (prob. isn't more than that) will be something everyone can live with and both GM and Disney actually listen to feedback of visitors/guests/costumers and don't force something stupid

The fast part outside looked so fast and scary to me, but when we found out how fast it went (around 65mph), my parents went "We were driving that faster on the interstate to get here". Lol, I calmed down after that. But little preteen me having a panic attack in the line is a memory for sure, lol.

My parents were teachers, so Future World of the 80's was awesome! Frankly, that first loop outside on the original Omnimover track was (and still is) so unique. World of Motion was my favorite! I think Test Track 1.0 was far better than 2.0 because it told a story…a crash test dummy’s story. The one redeeming thing about 2.0 was the futuristic cityscape as you went through a turn coming out of the trees. This was a nod to the CenterCore portion of World of Motion, which was itself an homage to Walt’s “Progress City” model for EPCOT (as seen on the Peoplemover).

My family loved 1.0. I loved the warehouse look. My most prominent memory was dropping a Nemo plush I have just gotten in a weird little nook in the queue. My dad have gotten down there saved it and hopped back up like a boss. The parents around us cheered. It sounds so fake when I type it out. When they changed the test track to 2.0 our family didn’t really like it. Not to mention the added wait time with making your own car. I don’t think I’ve been on 2.0 more than 3 times as a family who goes to Disney very often.

As of now, I'd say that my favorite version of Test Track is 1.0 because it had a lot more theming. I felt like 2.0 was pretty cheap looking, though I agree with 2.0 fans that it fit in Epcot. Especially the sound track. Now for 3.0, I'm getting a good feeling about it. I like that they're calling back to World of Motion. Now I read somewhere in an article that the 3.0 version is going to be about the adventure behind driving, as well as the onboard technology. A little speculation here. I feel like the queue in 3.0 is going to call back to WOM the heaviest. You could get scenes depicting ones from WOM, but in the queue. The actual ride will be you experiencing a brand new car powered by technology, as you go on a road trip through various scenery. You may get multiple biomes and a city scene, sorta like you'd have in a car commercial. If my speculation holds true, I think this could be the best version of Test Track. Lets hope for physical sets, and less screens.

So the car isn't actually supposed to go to 65mph. It's programed to hit 64.9 and not go over (though variances happen, of course, based on the weight in the car and other environmental factors). GM asked for that, because they didn't want it to seem like they where promoting speeding. And since the highway speed limit in the city of Orlando is 65mph, they wouldn't let Disney hit that. Hence the ride getting right to it at 64.9mph. Supposedly the ride system can actually reach speeds between 80-100mph, though Disney never wanted to hit those speeds, to keep a more universal appeal, even before the mandate from GM.
