Had to remove boiler chase out and repair ( thankful for slip sockets ) Then re fixed boiler in exact same place as per in a kitchen wall unit . These things are here to try us . 👍

That one did annoy me to be honest, we had one toilet on site to measure off and were told they were all identical, I did offer to move the feeds, it would have only been one tile but the customer was happy with the soil pipe boxing being extended to cover it, I think it will look fine in the end. I was surprised by this as they are so fussy, but as long as they are happy, so am I, thanks for watching as always mate 👍

I've always regarded my vans as functional vehicles even if they're my only vehicle. When they get bumps and scuffs inside and out it's just a normal thing for a working vehicle that pays its way in society. Just like us with our cuts and scars from work.

Hi Tom How much would a oil combi 24kw swap over be system 19 years old with all materials only a rough guess a priced one said it was to much like combos are expensive lol
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom Жыл бұрын
Oil combis are expensive mate, prices vary around the country and site conditions do affect the price, the old boiler is likely non condensing so a condense pipe will need installing, for a very rough guess there is probably 1 day to install the boiler and then 1 day to flush the system, for a rough guess around 4k plus vat would not seem unreasonable but without seeing the job its difficult to say exactly, best bet would be to get three prices, hope this helps

Oh mate you're so lucky to work in so many empty properties. It must make life so much easier. I've always been a big fan of Triton showers and I must have fitted hundreds in my time. I was an electrician back in the 80's and suddenly people started asking me if I fitted showers, so I suddenly had to learn plumbing and it led to bigger things. Most showers fitted in our area back then were either Gainsborough or the infamous Red Ring 6 that were fitted by the local electricity board (the MEB). The Red Ring had a 6KW element in quite a big tank while the Triton had 7.2 KW element in quite a small tank so it supplied ample hot water even in low water pressure areas where the Red Ring wouldn't work. Thank's for the great vid's mate, they remind me of when I was up to my elbows in dirty water but now I'm just watching you mate while sipping my Newcastle Brown Ale. Thanks Tom.
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support as always mate, the tritons do seem to be popular and are regularly specified, it does make my life nice and easy as all these properties have the same stuff fitted, so if there's a problem you know what to take out with you, it just saves time and money. Empty house's are nice to work in, it does take a bit of pressure off, and you always get more done, enjoy your ale mate, I've got a few jobs to do tomorrow but I might treat myself if I get done early 👍

Another enjoyable video, Tom. I seem to remember Worcester saying that oil pressure readings weren't quite accurate if you measure with a gauge connected via a tee piece, its better to connect the gauge directly to the oil pump. I'm not sure why that would be and ultimately correct combustion settings are more important in my book.
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom Жыл бұрын
Sometimes you have to use the extension as the gauge hits against the burner on some models when attaching to the pump, like you say good combustion is always the most important thing, thanks for watching as always 👍

I've not personally fitted one, but they all seem to do the same job, the ones sold by the boiler manufactures are expansive because they are required to be fitted to keep the boiler warranty, expensive doesn't always mean good and I'm sure some cheaper ones on the market do the same job, if not better

Hi Tom another good video, wondering if i could pick you brains a little please. i have a worcester combi greenstar 30si compact (i think). The boiler is making a loud banging noise any time is has to kick in wether its hot water or central heating only on first start up the noise isnt there when boiler is actually running. The closest thing i could compare the noise to would be like a magnet being let go and sticking to something magnetic every time it happens. had an engineer come and look at it but couldnt pinpoint the issue he just said he would start at the gas valve and see if that fixed the issue, is this something you may have come across before. Thanks, keep up the good work.
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, it will most likely either be the bearing plate sticking, which is a really easy fix, or it could be a partially blocked main heat exchanger. The bearing plates are quite a common issue and the boiler will make an awful noise when it first fires, there will likely be a few videos on youtube, have a look and try and compare the noise
