The first tune is a slip-jig from the late, great Tommy Potts and the second is a tune I learned off a Mary Bergin CD! Excuse any mistakes!!

thanks a lot, you really helped me :) i'm buying it in this very moment... when i buy an instrument, i always practise a lot and never give it up so i think i'll manage to learn some simple songs till holiday, just now i try to imagine playing by the lake or in high mountains... again, thank you really much for your advices and regards from Poland! :)

As their wonderful album "Eden" was released nearly 8 months (24.06.2011) after this video was uploaded, it would theoretically be possible that Faun decided to incorporate both these 2 lovely tunes (the Monaghan 'disguised' as Ynis Avalach) in the same order on their new album after watching and hearing this video... well, who knows ;-)

hey that's great! I would imagine that it does just need to be played for a while! Sliding up from the high A to the high B can also help though!

don't worry about asking "stupid" questions at all ha! It's just an ordinary tin whistle, not a low one. I take it you're interested in starting? :) and I personally think tin is the best material but there are those who would say the plastic ones are just as good, if not better! It's all about personal preference i'd say!

@TheWhistlingGypsy Oh, me too. My videos involve several "takes" and a lot of swearing ! Hehee

@fatheroblivion45 haha glad to hear it's not just me! I should upload the 6 takes it took for me and my brother to record that "Nothing's Gonna Harm You" because it's full of me shouting and threatening him haha!

thanks, and yes, i think about starting playing it :) it's so convinient that you can take it anywhere (not like piano or guitar) on ebay there aren't so many of dixon's whistles but i found that one: (please type "IRISH TIN WHISTLE IN D! Tuneable DIXON TRAD in Nickel" in ebay cos i cant put the actual link in my comment) can you tell me if it seems good? :) thanks in advance! :D

and is this low or high one? :D i know how stupid my question is but i'm a real noob when it comes to flutes, whistles and other non-string instruments... can you also tell me which material is best for it?
@DMSBrian2411 жыл бұрын
i have the whistle now :) you were right about breaking it in but after few days its a little easier to play on it :) i still have a problem with the highest note in this song though (high B and sometimes A), i can play it but it demands to blow very strong to get the right sound and then, it's that loud i can't even listen to it :) can you tell me if it's still about the 'breaking in'? you don't seem to have that problem while playing (of course i know you've been playing for years) :D

hey it's a tony dixon D whistle and it cost me something like €27 about 4 years ago!

@pogo506 ok i think i did it yesterday! let me know if you got it coz im not sure!
@TheWhistlingGypsy11 жыл бұрын
hey i just looked it up there and it's the same one I have except in a different colour is all! So if you think mine sounds reasonable, then I'm sure that one won't be too different! Bear in mind though, that it can take a while to break the whistle in, if you get me. The higher notes mightn't sound great at first but just keep playing it and it'll get better! :)

wonderfull music, you play very good but, I just have a question: where did you get those scores ?
@TheWhistlingGypsy14 жыл бұрын
@fatheroblivion45 ha it took my about 5 takes! if you sat infront of me and asked me to play you a tune, you'd swear I had just picked up the tin whistle yesterday!! tanx tho! :)
@TheWhistlingGypsy13 жыл бұрын
@loulou2k758 sure no problem! hold on till I get my tin whistle and I'll send you a message with the notes I play at least ha :)

@TheWhistlingGypsy13 жыл бұрын
@pogo506 haha ok well I could try figure them out i guess! or I could just message you the notes for the tune and you could come up with the chords yourself as you would probably be better than me! :)
